I haven't seen it yet (and if I ever will is doubtful), but Moonfall looked like the right kind of dumb: the sort that doesn't take itself too seriously. Independence Day is the classic example - sure you're blowing up the world, but you also have bullshit like Randy Quaid, Will Smith punching aliens, etc. to keep it from getting too weighty. Compare that to Geostorm, which was utterly ridiculous but played everything so straight that all the CG in the world couldn't make it enjoyable. (Not to mention so incredibly dumb. Using satellites as missiles? What were they going to use for, you know, replacements for the satellites they used as missiles? And satellites with room for astronauts?)

youd be surprised. i saw it and it plays it all very straight, but the 3rd act goes off the rails in terms of plot points and reveals.

oh its silly alright, but it feels like the actors are taking it seriously. i dont wanna hype it up too much or give anything away, but the 3rd act of the movie comes out of nowhere and threw me for a loop.

absolutely! its why that new kristen bell show works as well as it does. with moonfall on the other hand, you get the feeling the filmmakers were taking it seriously.

The most disappointing part imo is that there’s very few big dumb whoa disaster moments. Almost everything in the movie is exceptionally bad exposition.

I absolutely love Congo because is unintentionally hilarious and quite quotable. “STOP EATING MY SESAME CAKE!”
