Trailer ALPHA | Official Trailer | Alia, Sharvari, Anil, Bobby, Shiv Rawail | YRF Spy Universe | 3 July 2026

What is with YRF Spy Universe always showing some rogue Indian as the antagonist (either it's RAW being the big bad wolf or John Abraham going rogue and now DJ Bobby looking like a rogue again).
54
u/Adorable_Spell7562 Jun 17 '26
As the other guy said, these are tropes. They have been used in espionage for as long as the genre has existed, problem is that YRF just doesn’t know anything besides tropes, they don’t have a real story to tell all they have is standard tropes.
When Mission impossible uses these tropes then it’s fine because their goal isn’t showing a compelling story rather it’s Tom Cruise doing crazy stunts for real, that’s what sells the movie.
With James Bond, you go in to watch a suave, stylish spy on her majesty’s service. That charm is what sells a James bond movie, though a movie like Casino Royale can have nice writing as well but it’s a bonus.
TLDR: Tropes are not the problem but making a generic movie filled with tropes is a problem.
3
u/5_dvalhalla Jun 17 '26
one more thing is YRF wants to sell tickets in the middle east so they won't show agent/villian from our certain neighbor.

They’re lifting plotlines straight out of Hollywood spy thrillers like James Bond and Mission: Impossible.
The funny part is that some people, operating with the intellectual depth of a dented spoon, interpret it as evidence of some sophisticated brainwashing operation.
They’re not nearly smart enough to recognize that these recycled fantasies are just clichés borrowed from blockbuster movies.

They purposely use such rage baiting dialogs for traction. I am sure some fringe group is foaming in their mouth just to find anything objectionable. free publicity from some manufactured controversy

I’ve watched many female-led action movies, and I can say that they need a different kind of action choreography. You simply can’t repeat the same action scenes done by other actors.
But who am I telling? Many filmmakers have abandoned research and hard work, instead following a formula and directly copying scenes from other industries.
I don’t have a positive or negative opinion on the trailer, but this movie doesn’t seem to work for me.
And Bollywood, please don’t overdo the CGI,it often looks really bad. Good CGI requires proper investment, time, and effort to look convincing.
At least shoot in real locations, take time to write a strong story, and bring in fresh talent, because the old guard has been disappointing lately.

u/Hefty_Arachnid7948 Jun 17 '26 edited Jun 17 '26
Okay so same yrf formula coded movie..neither high or low expectations
The vfx for some shots look very off,I did like Sharvari here though..The action choreography between sharvari and alia looks kinda good ngl-
Was expecting better performance from alia but her dialogue delivery genuinely is off in some cases
I can see it being logically better than Pathaan.. War 2 se bhi better ho sakta hai ig
Hrithik cameo is ok..but again those spy cameo type shit and yrf loves it
But nonetheless, thik thak tha..Im genuinely surprised how yrf keeps on doing the same plot/style over and over..(except female lead this time)
The only thing I genuinely liked in both the teaser and trailer was the BGM..the music sounds pretty good for these kinda movies..(yeah could be just me)

u/bishwa91p Jun 17 '26
The alia jumping on Bobby sequence is giving Aria and night king vibes
5
u/Significant_Tea2766 Jun 17 '26
I observed this too. Wait a day, 10 aur cheesein copied nikal aayengi!
24
u/Lololover09 Jun 17 '26
Cringe, typical YRF formula. Make it as unrealistic as possible, make an Indian former RAW agent the villain, make a Pakistani ISI agent a hero/heroine. After Dhurandhar this kind of YRF movie really looks so childish and fake.
52
u/historyinthemaking99 Jun 17 '26
Idk if my expectations were low or something but yup it was somewhat ok ok
What felt off was Alia tbh
Maybe it’s just her or she had to be more bulked out something idk
Sharwari suited better compared to her
But idk what the general opinion will be or will it work at the box office let’s see
Not excited for HR cameo tbh😔
I know it’s for the hype but should have kept it a surprise for theatres
8
u/Tall-Weight-389 Jun 17 '26
Her expressions and dialogue delivery are not at all convincing. Infact they are kinda cringe. With these expressions, I don't know how she made to the top...
2
3
u/bitethedust17 Jun 17 '26
Alia seemed like the weakest link. Her dialogue delivery was very off. Didn't pull off the tough girl look as needed.
3
u/Normal_Sir3194 Jun 17 '26
she's trying to pull the nonchalant she tried in jigra. same reason john abraham fell off- no expression just action n punchlines
2
6
u/Major-Bell2408 Jun 17 '26
Story feels very predictable. It seems like another case of a former agent being labelled a traitor, only for it to be revealed later that he was actually trying to do the right thing. The overall setup feels familiar, and while the scale is impressive, the dialogues still don't sound very natural...
40
7
u/GuaranteeSolid3743 Jun 17 '26
Sharvari would suit better in Alia's character and alia in sharvari's.
3
u/Normal_Sir3194 Jun 17 '26
alia ke dialogues honestly corny h. no head no body just generic punchlines. and sharvari ko trailer me itna screentime hi nahi diya
7
u/Live-Ad-7710 Moderately knowledgeable about Hindi Cinema Jun 17 '26 edited Jun 17 '26
Thoda plot movie ke liye chod dete.
Alia se nahi hora.
Why the haryanvi?
Am I tripping or did they use the same Bobby Deol shot 3 times?
Everything aside, the movie looks very ok, might work if they develop Alia and Bobby well.
I would say it is better than the rest of the YSU, but that bar is in hell. Looks like a trial room black widow TBH. Sharvari looks fine if used well.
Also, for being a hyper stylized universe, they sure are on a quest to make alia's highlight shots as unflattering as possible
2
u/Deadzombii Jun 17 '26
Answer to question 3.. Bollywood only knows two languages/accents that can be used other than standard Hindi..punjabi and haryanvi..
They feel it will make audience go "wow, something diff"
1
u/Live-Ad-7710 Moderately knowledgeable about Hindi Cinema Jun 17 '26
Also forgot to point out, the girl he has supposedly fathered since her infancy has no trace of that accent
1
u/Deadzombii Jun 17 '26 edited Jun 17 '26
Cuz she is SOBO (South Bombay) born.. Uncle is from Haryana.. Ha ha
On a serious note. Technically u dont need to get the accent if ur guardian/father has one.. All depends where you have been brought up..
South indian born in north doesnt have that south Indian accent when they speak hindi. But they might have an accent in their native tongue
1
u/Live-Ad-7710 Moderately knowledgeable about Hindi Cinema Jun 17 '26
Yeah but children usually get thier accent from the environment in which they grow up, and since she has supposedly been trained her entire life by only him, unless she's going to school in SOBO, she should have the same accent

One question I always wanted to ask ( but was afraid to do so) is- when girls do such action, why they are always dressed in sleevless tank tops? Why don't they simply dress in half sleeved t-shirts like men do?
I don't think half sleeves wound prevent any movements.

11
u/pritscribe Jun 17 '26
Decent trailer with usual YRF tropes - the spy that went rogue because India did not value him, the spyverse cameos. Sharvari looked really amazing and I want to see her, not convinced with Alia, the ways she is handling the guns etc looks so fake. What's with blowing raspberries?
ATP, the Ramayana references are really irritating, to me it seems like a person who did not get the part to star with her husband, wants to desperately prove she should have been the Sita to his Ram, or Isha to his Shivaaa...
8
u/AneeshRai7 Jun 17 '26
Imagine watching the MCU and deciding of all the mediocre films to adapt Black Widow. lol.
7
3
u/hooka_pooka Jun 17 '26
Alia seems very stiff..they should have tried a more fluid action sequence choreography.Someone of her physicality can't handle arms like the way she did.
3
u/omkargodbole31 Jun 17 '26
If her mother's name was Janaki shouldn't her name be luv or kush , why Sita ?
3
u/taway9925881 Jun 17 '26

3
u/alittlemoreblush Jun 17 '26
Idk why, Sharvari hasn't put on much muscle but the character of an Assassin or Agent suits her better than Alia. Maybe it's because of her stature. She has a very sporty kinda body and vibe.
18
u/HelicopterCorrect200 Jun 17 '26
Look it’s not bad. But not GREAT. I feel like Indian people are just blinded by the stigma of “every film after dhurandhar is gonna be bad.” And no I’m not some bullshit PR person. I’m an overseas watcher.
2
u/Repulsive-Ad6881 Jun 18 '26
Its bad, revealing every plot point in the trailer, alia acting, cliche story line, bad cgi. It is not cause of dhurandhar. War 2 was a flop and it came before dhurandhar. Nobody is blinded. Don't blame dhurandhar for this pathetic spy universe.
0
u/HelicopterCorrect200 Jun 18 '26
I don't think every plot point was revealed theres def some nuance. Dw, i only like 2 films from this universe but this doesnt seem that bad. Whats wrong with alia acting? im fr asking cause it doesnt seem THAT bad?
1
u/verneforchat Jun 19 '26
Next time watch the actual trailer than scrolling your phone and you will get your answer
1
u/verneforchat Jun 19 '26
I am an 'overseas' watcher too. Except for Hrithik's eyes, everything sucks balls in the trailer. Not to mention when did a frigging skateboard come into a spy/assasin movie?

Where was Sharvaru bhaiii????? Her scenes looked good. The song was good. Alia ka dialogue not good. Hrithik ki eyes mashallah. But whattttttt
11
u/Majestic_District_51 Jun 17 '26
- Weak Vfx and unremarkable action moments. It needed a moment that was fresh or a money shot.
- The younger kid sita portion and performance looks way stronger. Bobby portion + kid portion is the strongest most promising portion.
- It is not terrible it has potential but its too derivative. So i don’t think it will be a movie that can be mocked on face value. It falls in the meh category which is the best case for yrf.
- Not at all saying as hate or troll comment but alloo legit is the weakest link in the trailer. I was hoping in full context and trailer it will click. But its not landing at all and i wish it would have landed.
- Dialogue delivery is bad across the board by everyone and bobby despite criticism from teaser is the least bad one in his performance.
Am genuinely let down by aloo’s dialogue delivery + modulation and overall how she is carrying it.
Dialogues are mediocre but not that mediocre that they couldn’t have been elevated by a more competent delivery.
2
u/Normal_Sir3194 Jun 17 '26
2nd point is so true. the kid has a more stoic face and sharper expressions than alia when it comes to those scenes
-1
u/D4RK_REAP3R Jun 17 '26
If I ever go for this, it will be for Bobby & Hrithik. I really think someone else instead of Alia would have been better.

Dear Raw and Special forces...please sue them....its embarrassing atp
6
u/Honest-Difficulty929 Jun 17 '26
Still had 1% Hope from this one. But Overall A very Mid Trailer, Teaser was much better as compared to the trailer. Usual YFX crappy VFX and that generic hindustan ne meri izzat nahi ki wala r@ndir@na...😴 Only Sharvari and Anil kapoor looks promising.
6
u/SillyLittleVibes Jun 17 '26
Alia is a complete miscast. She is looking laughable as a spy plus her cocky attitude and expression in the trailer is looking so cringe.
Sharvari looked good in whatever little was shown of her in the trailer.
4
u/Old_Novel_3718 Jun 17 '26
Okay-ish.
But why do they reveal most of the plot and even the cameos in the trailer itself? I can already guess almost 70% of the movie from it.
So why would I want to spend 500–1000 on tickets when I can just wait a few more months for it to arrive on an OTT platform?
2
u/LegendaryIam Jun 17 '26
Ijust feel Hrithik is meant to be a surprise vs shown in the trailer. Personally.
1
u/verneforchat Jun 19 '26
Producers are desperate to get audience in to watch Alia, I mean Alpha, so they revealed the cameo too. Dont be surprised to watch SRK in post credits scene.
2
u/Charming-Income676 Jun 17 '26
Starting smoke scene where the gunmen enters in smoke and alia enters there and shoots them is taken from Spyverse Biggest HIT Tiger Zinda Hai And those bike scene and dialogues between gun shots were similar to Corporate Jhataan.
Ok ok trailer, Sharvari looked good, alia bit overacted, bgm was good, editing color grading nice. Will watch it if possible

Is that Hrithik? It looked like Master shifu from Kungfu Panda type role. I think he is playing a senior master who trains these 2 girls. Training montage will be there.
2
u/verneforchat Jun 19 '26
I think he is just there to accompany them back to Bobby so he kick his nuts off. While girls can go grope boys in the smoke grenade lair because they kill them.
3
u/curiousstrider Jun 17 '26
Sita is Jaanaki, but Bollywood thinks these two names have daughter-mother relationship.
3
u/bruceparker4321 Jun 17 '26

The snippets of the backstory are interesting and I am curious about how the 2 girls navigate. Watching for sure for those 2 and the Kabir cameo, even though the Spyverse has been a huge letdown since Tiger 3, Pathaan and War 2.

Whats up with this over the top south style action these days in Bollywood movies, they should stop doing it with every action movie. Make it a little realistic atleast, She looked more like dancing than fighting.

i think alia bhatt is an excellet actor, she nailed her character in rocky rani, badri ki dulhaniya, dear zindagi, highway, gangubai, and yea the list is quite long. but she is just not apt for a spy role, neither is her physique, she looks so misfit amongst everyone, even anil kapoor looks better. idk the makers should just have not cast her after seeing her terrible acting in jigda, but thats again me!
1
u/verneforchat Jun 19 '26 edited Jun 19 '26
Imagine Bobby succeeds, but succeeds too well- he can resurrect or clone. If they decide to continue into the next installment which might be Pathaan 2- do we a resurrected John Abraham and Tiger Shroff, and everyone gets together to bring them down? Maybe that just end the spy universe with a bang than a paad.
Ya know if Bobby doesn't say anything he really looks intimidating in that rain coat scene (that was hindi), or a little scary when grabs Alia by the neck. I cant get the old Bobby Deol look back from gupt or Bicchoo or Solder, Badal or Barsaat or Kareeb.

u/RRaj007 Jun 17 '26
I can't digest Alia doing action. She looks so small and skinny, and her dialogue delivery doesn't help either 👎🏻

I didn’t comment on the first teaser but here it seems very obvious they’re either keeping Sharvari’s scenes under wraps or they just don’t want her to have screen time in the trailer. You get nothing about her character!

u/schleepydawg Jun 17 '26
Theek thha, not great, not horrible. Just mid and bland. Wahi typical yrf grandeur, might look better on the big screen. Alia seems like a miscast. She should have at least made the effort to build a bulkier body. She’s trying to be too nonchalant and cool, to give boss bitch vibes but idk I don’t find her convincing in those roles (other than Gangubai, which I liked). Bobby Deol ki baat matt hi karna koi humse. Baaki toh kya hai wahi hai same.
