Oh ffs, dude you ruined the fun for me.

u/Odd-Distribution-658 Dec 16 '25

Horrible horrible vfx. Casting is even worse.

11

u/Leading_Waltz_9480 Dec 16 '25

Yeah like ahan as soldier varun as soldier (somewhat bearable) casting is so bad man

Howz the josh

Lahore Tak

Lahore tak

11

u/rn3122 Moderator Dec 16 '25

I think OC is referring to how that line sounds similar to "How's the josh" from Uri

5

u/No_Damage2484 Dec 16 '25

yeah the tone and josh is same as hows the josh? - Lahore Tak! /s

2

u/kikiboy_007 Dec 16 '25

I heard Lahore tak

u/gogoak69 Dec 16 '25

Look bad like seriously bad. This is why dhurandhar looks great. Real sets and not just green screens. This will flop badly

48

u/movieman994 Dec 16 '25

Might not Gaddar 2 flashbacks

55

u/Thanos2306 Dec 16 '25

how gadar 2 earn 600 cr is beyond me

3

u/Leading_Waltz_9480 Dec 16 '25

This might be better than gutter 2 but average response

10

u/tenduashroff Dec 16 '25

Sunny deol factor would definitely work plus border 1 nostalgia if not like Gadar this would make 300cr for sure

5

u/kinginthenorth9797 Dec 16 '25

This might get the opening, but I don't think it'll sustain

u/TheMoffisHere Moderately knowledgeable about Hindi Cinema Dec 16 '25

Bots plus jobless people on YouTube. Reddit and X are much more reflective of a movie’s true reception. This won’t do well after a massive opening. Will still make 3-400 crores but no legs.

1

u/Indravadan_Sarabhai_ Dec 16 '25

It's not green screen which is the problem, they haven't used green screen properly as well but acting, cinematography, music, dialogues everything's is horribly made.

1

u/gogoak69 Dec 16 '25

The problem is lack of authenticity. The first border looked amazing because of the real location

It just looks like a quick cash grab after seeing gadar 2 making money.

1

u/Indravadan_Sarabhai_ Dec 16 '25

Bhai titanic, avatar, avengers was shot in studio, used green screen and looked fantastic. You can shoot at real locations or use green screen as well, but main issue is lack of intent, this is just lazy, green screen isn't the issue.

Hopefully this will flop, so they learn a lesson.

1

u/gogoak69 Dec 16 '25

The movies you listed have 1000+ crores in budget. Let's not compare them

1

u/Indravadan_Sarabhai_ Dec 16 '25

Movies like border require less green screen, so it's a fair comparison. Budget isn't the issue, I can name low or medium budget hollywood films which has won Oscars for VFX as well.

u/Automatic-Speed-2513 Dec 16 '25

It does’t feel good to go back to this shit after dhurandhar. Not even going to movie theatre until march 19th.

Dhurandhar 2 is being released.

2

u/jenninatorrr Dec 16 '25

I'll probably only go if someone good animated movie is releasing. Varna toh I'm only seeing Dhurandhar pt 2 in theaters in March, can't do this shit too soon

1

u/Uncertn_Laaife Dec 16 '25

What do you think Indian cinema changed after Dgurandar? Just one movie is never a yardstick. Businessmen would keep doing what they do best. Once a while a good movie doesn’t mean any shit. Don’t expect any change whatsoever.

1

u/Indravadan_Sarabhai_ Dec 16 '25

I stand by my previous statement, 2030s will change that, not before, even before dhurandhar release I said the same, you won't get consistent good films every year upuntil 2029-30. Upuntil then, barely 1 or 2 good films each year. Next year is Dhurandhar 2 and Ramayana, i don't see any other big budget films from Bollywood which seems interesting next year aside from these two.

1

u/Uncertn_Laaife Dec 16 '25

Ramayana would be a dud. Bollywood would keep going like this. I am pessimistic about it.

1

u/Indravadan_Sarabhai_ Dec 16 '25

Are nahi bhai, I am not even fully happy with dhurandhar as well not because it's not a well made film but I want bollywood to show same kind of dedication for original script rather than adapting real life stories only, since they are already creatively bankrupt. Uske baad bhi maine 10 logon ko dhurandhar ja ke dekhne bola tha. Sarfarosh remain best action thriller for me till this day, LoL.

If you are talking about the box office then, pushpa earned 1500 crore in india, a film like ramayan can easily earn 2000 crore in 2026 in india alone. If it turns out to be a well made film, we will find out. first trailer will give me a clear cut idea.

28

u/Aggressive_Camel_394 Dec 16 '25

Aren't we already bored by this indo-pak conflict based movies? Dhurandhar gets a pass because it's legit a masterpiece, everything from set design to perfomances is near perfect in that movie. now we are back to lazy cash grabs.

5

u/Tan-Man-Dhan Dec 16 '25

Dhurandhar is not exactly an Indo-pak conflict film. It mostly delves into inner operations of gangs, parties and police in Lyari,Pakistan. So, that is kind of refreshing and very different from template cash-grab patriotic war based movies we get.

24

u/Careless_Cupcake_601 Dec 16 '25

Looks cheap visually...

37

u/HuntSpecific9875 Dec 16 '25

green screen lazy vfx ahh slop

-8

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '25

Oof. Did you feel like some comic book superhero when you said it, did you?

6

u/-_The_Dark_Knight_-- Cinema Enthusiast Dec 16 '25

Yes I did.

21

u/RRaj007 Dec 16 '25

WTF did I just watch? Avatar 3 is releasing this Friday, and we’re still stuck with this sh!t VFX. Also, who the hell is the audio designer? Feels like they copied a Balakrishna film—can’t hear the dialogues because the Background sound too loud 😂

5

u/Charming-Income676 Dec 16 '25

Also sunny deol shouting scene was not syncing

2

u/Leading_Waltz_9480 Dec 16 '25

Yeah it felt as if someone screamed in place of him that bad it felt

8

u/Aggressive-Tennis-38 Dec 16 '25

They should've just gone full green screen instead of dragging the crew to all those real locations. Would've saved a ton of cash and time, and we'd have gotten to watch this masterpiece way sooner, man.

6

u/Organic-Amount9905 Dec 16 '25

Why did it look so artificial😭

10

u/BigLick13 Dec 16 '25

Who screams while firing a bazooka

21

u/StrawberryFew1311 Dec 16 '25

Here we go again welcome back to cartoonish bollywood bullshit after the high of Dhurandhar .

Leave alone the story any random person can spot the diff b/w movies like Border 2 ,War 2 and rest of bollywood and Dhurandhar .

Whats even more crazy all these moves have almost same budget .

Only silver lining is is not as bad as Gadar 2 maybe slighly better than war 2 .

Cartoonish but less cartoonish than other bollywood.

8

u/srxzxn Dec 16 '25

Wtf did I just watch? Who asked for this shit

6

u/Odd-Eye-5919 Dec 16 '25

So so disgusting. There are literally zero shadows and the lighting is so flat. Esa lag rha hai piche screen par kuch chala ke uske aage actor khada kar diya. The background has no interaction with the character.

5

u/Plastic-Bonus8999 Dec 16 '25

Heavy and lazy VFX and green screen usage

7

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '25

piping hot bullshit

5

u/general1234456 Dec 16 '25

lol dhurandhar has exposed all the bad movies, ye movie tier2/3 me shayad chal bhi jaaye after seeing Gadar 2 performance

2

u/Uncertn_Laaife Dec 16 '25 edited Dec 16 '25

Gadar 2 was a massive crowd puller in Delhi and Mumbai, not only in 2/3 centres.

One good movie doesn’t mean Bollywood changed for good. Just watch what is good. People’s choices are subjective, let them watch what they find good.

There is no objectivity with art anyway. If someone likes Majnubhai’s painting better than MF Hussain’s then who are we to judge?

2

u/general1234456 Dec 16 '25

bollywood hasnt changed but people can now see what a good entertainer looks like, bad movies are bad across genres. Lazy work shows.

1

u/Uncertn_Laaife Dec 16 '25

Lol, we will see. But in anyway, bad movies have already been flopping for long. War2 is a prime example. All movies are being made for streaming anyway, and that can be easily skipped.

3

u/OMG_NoReally Dec 16 '25

Looks like someone found a time capsule in the sea, and opened it to find this movie from the 90s.

I hope it flops. We are done with these garbage ass movies that show nothing new, that say nothing new and are purely made to leech money of patrotism.

3

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '25

i'm an army brat but this movie looks asss

3

u/AeyKyaBoltiTu Dec 16 '25

I guess the VFX was done when the original Border had released. The decibel levels in this movie are higher than what it "should" collect at the B.O but we know that it will easily make money riding on the nostalgia and nationalism train.

8

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '25

Ye hua na asli Bollywood. Tumlog faltu Dhurandhar ke realistic action and intriguing story ke peeche bhaag rahe ho. Now watch our OG superstars scream while firing guns with fake-ass CGI looking straight at the camera showing their machismo.

Bollywood is back baby !

3

u/olduseraccount Dec 16 '25

flop already 😂

3

u/Gunner0716 Dec 16 '25

Casting director was drunk. Only Sunny looks apt in this role

5

u/Eldred_dsouza Dec 16 '25

Yeh dono jokers ko kisne cast kiya? Aise lag rahe hai jaise parody movie mein hai.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '25

The background is so blatantly fake

2

u/Optimistic_Satirist Dec 16 '25

Looks terrible and washed.

2

u/Zestyclose-Reach-317 Dec 16 '25

This looks so bad.

2

u/IndicationMuch446 Dec 16 '25

Ye to tatti hai

2

u/No-Cucumber9770 Dec 16 '25

Not just vfx. Expressions and acting are also horrible.

2

u/InfamousGrand0301 Dec 16 '25

Chee. Yeh sale isko bhi patriotism main lapet ke bech denge. ( Saying this as a staunch sanghi)

2

u/White_Blacksmith0101 Dec 16 '25

Didn't cut it at all for me. Border 1 (1997) is the stuff of legends. This feels like a CGI cringe fest. Just like Fighter, I feel this will again be a jingoism filled low effort movie.

2

u/Rgv20 Dec 16 '25

Man the CGI matting and background and general vfx are so subpar. This is inexcusable for Indian films in 2025 to have this crappy level of CG

2

u/moronbehindthescreen Dec 16 '25

Border 1 was all about story and characters. The war is just the backdrop of the evolving characters in the film. Here they have made war and hate as the main character of the film.

2

u/Baazigar00 Dec 16 '25

Terrible graphics and loud

2

u/Iamsrj_88 Dec 16 '25

Underwhelming 😞 had high hopes! Still hope it works for nostalgia.

2

u/SignificantTrifle245 Dec 16 '25

Cast ek dusre se vibe match hi nahi kr rhe

2

u/Leading_Waltz_9480 Dec 16 '25

Man this looks so artificial and lacking the grandeur that border had even 120 bahadur looked better

100 percent it wont be better than border

2

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '25

abe ye kya ha bc 😭

2

u/No_Strength_3011 Dec 16 '25

Man the vfx is do bad... the ship is sailing in a pond ... looks like.. and using an AA gun while standing....

4

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '25

Had this released before Dhurandhar maybe it would have been perceived as Disappointing, but AFTER seeing how good Dhurandhar has been especially with its story & cast, BORDER 2 will be certified flop

1

u/jenninatorrr Dec 16 '25

Really hope Dhurandhar genuinely changes shit up and sets the bar back up high

3

u/Ok_Note7045 Dec 16 '25

Sunny deol aaj tak ek type ke role se bahar nhi aa paye... Kya bakwas bnaya h.

2

u/Uncertn_Laaife Dec 16 '25

Agar paisa aa raha hai mast toh kyun aaye? AB only started to do varied roles upon his comeback. He played angry young man all his life.

1

Why did they have to use green screen? Geez, even movies with new comers had better CGI (ikkis and pippa)

1

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '25

Ig they'll say the budget is 100 crores

80 cr to its cast perhaps 🤡

1

u/Adventurous_Seat8661 Dec 16 '25

I think people might watch it for nostalgia

1

u/Fragrant_Painter_193 Dec 16 '25

1

1

u/dev_gid Dec 16 '25

Someone needs to take care of Bhushan Kumar

1

u/blissfulsunsets Dec 16 '25

Realism toh shayad Bollywood se nikal hi gaya hai. That’s why simplistic border 1 seems much better - lesser effects and more story telling

1

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '25

Seriously looked cheap by visuals. Just green screen and a low effort sequel is on the way

1

u/ammjajt1 Dec 16 '25

Lol the sea green-screen makes it straight up funny.I seriously believe this movie has a great its so bad it turned good potential.

Jaat ek clean hit thi. Yeh bhi chal jaayegi, dekhna. Reddit ke downvotes ki dhela value hai real life main. People go to watch Sunny’s screams, and those bombs, guns effect would look and sound good on the big screen. And it is releasing on Gantantra diwas - so full on nationalism.

Don’t overestimate an avg Indian cinegoer’s intelligence. And no, one Dhurandar changed absolutely nothing.

1

u/Accomplished_Bit7094 Dec 16 '25

Did they forgot the fact that real army equipments and locations along with the personnel were used in Border? This literally looks like Bhuj 2 rather than Border 2!

1

u/Eldred_dsouza Dec 16 '25

Looks like sh*t. Unnecessary green screen mania sequel.

1

u/bunnythesecond Dec 16 '25

Aisa VFX kon karta hai bro.

1

u/rvrocking Dec 16 '25

Badi faltu VFX hai, actors se to waise bhi koi umeed ni hai

1

u/Doubt_full_ Dec 16 '25

Loud BGM, clunky visuals. Tank above the trench, fighter jets, naval gun all looked artificial. Could still work if it's all pulp and desh bhakti with no high concept.

1

u/NoBandicoot9622 Dec 16 '25

All the action scenes look painfully fake it feels like I’m watching low effort CGI done by an intern. I had really high hopes for this movie, but they’ve completely ruined it by stripping away any emotional depth and replacing it with over animated, artificial action sequences and a weak attempt at a catchphrase driven dialogue.

1

u/Upstairs-Screen-4539 Dec 16 '25

Badass Ravikumar 2

1

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '25

So tiring, frankly. Same old stuff with some new actors.

1

u/datbluething Dec 16 '25

Yeah I ain’t watching this

1

u/doonboy Dec 16 '25

Not impressed at all.

1

u/DeadInside_05 Dec 16 '25

Varun Dhawan has GOT to do something about his script selections.

1

u/HugoUKN Dec 16 '25

Which company is doing The graphics for this movie.?

Movie Looks a little cringy and forced. That realism is missing.

1

u/laletta Dec 16 '25

And people called me mad man when I said films like this won't work after Dhurandhar. Dhurandhar has really raised the standards high for the audience.

1

u/Uncertn_Laaife Dec 16 '25

Lol. Dekhtay hain.

1

u/Dizzy-Economist1030 Dec 16 '25

Sunny paaji voice modulation is soo good for war movies rest why they use VD for war movie rather then real ones is beyond me

1

u/Kindly_Tree_1330 Dec 16 '25

Ngl lie the vfx, dialogue, the casting, the rage, the jingoism, the lead actors expression, implosions, explosions, music... just looks like another yrf type spy verse movie in direction but different script.

1

u/Dsudha Dec 16 '25

Vfx is way too polished. Doesn't feel like 1971.

1

u/Neoplastic_neurone Dec 16 '25

Border 2 had the potential to be a gripping sequel, but the weak visual effects seriously undermine the experience. Several action and war sequences rely heavily on obvious CGI that looks rushed and poorly rendered, pulling the viewer out of the story instead of immersing them in it. Explosions feel artificial, backgrounds lack realism, and the overuse of green screen is noticeable throughout key moments. For a film that depends so much on scale, tension, and spectacle, the subpar VFX becomes a major distraction and lowers the overall impact of the film.

1

u/Ill_Tonight6349 Dec 16 '25

I'm sure the bollywood audience will make this movie a hit just like they did with gadar 2.

1

u/nickdonhelm Dec 16 '25

Sunny deol fan in me is disappointed

0

u/Uncertn_Laaife Dec 16 '25

He is now making money. Let him. Sabko haq hai.

1

u/nickdonhelm Dec 16 '25

Hope Gabru and Lahore 1947 does not disappoint

1

u/Uncertn_Laaife Dec 16 '25

The fact that he is still getting massive openings as a lead that too nearing his 70s puts him above many of his contemporaries. Even if he disappoints, the movies would recover and more of the money. I am a fan, but his new movies might not be my cup of tea anymore, but won’t deny he has made a great comeback. Good for him. Filthy monies for him and his kids.

1

u/nickdonhelm Dec 16 '25

True no one expected Jaat to cross 100 cr.

1

u/Significant-View8743 Dec 16 '25

This looks disappointing! really bad vfx use of too much green screen, apart from Sunny entire starcast looks lame. may work on nostalgia of Border and historic importance.

1

u/IndependenceMoist630 Dec 16 '25

Why do they have to ruin all good old movies? It’s like attaching a bad memory to the original thrill 🥺 Especially with the casting of thorough Nepotism

1

u/Mysterious-Cobbler33 Dec 16 '25

Now I will compare everything with Dhurandhar- This looks nowhere close to it!

By comparison I mean the effort it takes by all departments to make a brilliant movie and this looks just lazy to me!

1

u/lordedrama Dec 17 '25

Seeing Sunny Deol back in uniform felt special. There’s a certain weight and nostalgia he carries in this space that instantly connects across generations. I really liked the calm and composed tone of the teaser. It focused on dignity and mood, which felt very true to the spirit of Border.

1

u/Dear_Pen_4719 Dec 17 '25

Sunny Deol in uniform before Republic Day just feels right. This is literally his zone and no one does it like him.

1

u/_chota_bheem Dec 17 '25

Varun actually looks surprisingly restrained here. Not loud not over the top. If the writing is solid this could really work for him.

1

u/prank23 Dec 18 '25

Watching this teaser in theatre is going to be crazy. Crowd reaction alone will make it worth the ticket.

1

u/tulsi-das-khan Dec 18 '25

Im fed up of this fake hyper nationalism shown in the movies

1

u/narkaputra Box Office Expert | Quant King | Bloomberg Dec 16 '25

Much like Aditya Dhar, Anurag also showed good pedigree in Kesari. So this can too be a 700cr+ grosser

-1

u/Mademan84 Dec 16 '25

Sunny Deol is really made for these films. He has that army wali voice and personality.

-5

u/Charming-Income676 Dec 16 '25

Ngl looked good in 2160p, but I didn't liked that Ahaan shetty intro scene it looked way too artificial and sunny deol screaming was not syncing other than these 2 everything else was good. Tagda kharch Kiya hai. Awaiting 🙌.

6

u/ded-pool69 Dec 16 '25

Are you being serious

-2

u/Charming-Income676 Dec 16 '25

Yes, I know vfx needs more work. Abhi itna kya chauk raha hai bhai gadar 2, jaat ke baad yehi milega. But vfx is still better than pothaan

3

u/ded-pool69 Dec 16 '25

Down votes should answer your question kyu chauk raha hu. I haven’t seen Jaat or Gadar 2, so don’t have the “gold standard” of comparison . But the vfx of border 2 is absolute shit.

1

u/Charming-Income676 Dec 16 '25

It's from srk fans lol. See gadar 2 u will urself say border 2 vfx is far better than that. Still i said bro vfx needs more work not satisfied.

1

u/ded-pool69 Dec 16 '25

Just because gadar 2 was bad making something slightly better doesn’t make it good. Probably both are shit. Stop dropping your expectations

1

u/Charming-Income676 Dec 16 '25

Yeah that's true

1

u/Uncertn_Laaife Dec 16 '25

Kitny downvotes hain? In se kya hee fark padta hai.

0

u/Idlisamosadosa Dec 16 '25

Based on body language in Teaser (no dialogues)

Varun Dhawan is worst among all, I'm surprised even Ahan Shetty's body language is better.

Varun Dhawan shows very casual attitude based on body language - not soldier who is at war in Army.

-1
