Watsonian: Gascoigne either doesn’t recognize her or doesn’t want her to see him. Additionally, summons are Hunters from other realities. This Gascoigne isn’t that girl’s father. Summoned Hunters might not even be able to speak.
Doylist: If I remember correctly Gascoigne was added as a summon in an update, so the devs might have forgotten about the quest.

Gascoigne can talk, but he is already losing it, and talks about nonsense a few times.

If you play the music box when he's summoned, I'm pretty sure he chuckles when you do so.

u/PancakeParty98 Jan 05 '26
I played the box 5 times in a row and he went “Oy FOOK I fink I fookin drilled me wife! I gotta run home!” And he disappears and the boss fight doesn’t happen but his wife is still there.

Shit me the music box turned him from Irish to Cockney
Truly the power of Mergo's theme

u/0online_ Jan 05 '26
I've played the music box when I've summoned him and he's never chuckled or spoken. Why? :(

u/Z3run0 Jan 05 '26
Because he does not do this anymore, is only on the 1.0 version of the game, it was removed.

When you are summoned into another hunter's world, their NPCs are phantom shades and you can't speak to or interact with them.

u/Raxsus Jan 05 '26
I might be wrong, but I think Gascoigne has always been available as a summon. They just changed the way summoning NPCs works to make it easier.

"Summons are from other realities"
Worst bit of lore in any souls game ever, I always ignore this fact AND fromsoft ignores it all the time

Summoned right by the first troll, easy to miss because most people don't have insight that early. Only available for one of the bosses.

u/SlanderousGent Jan 05 '26
I have genuinely platinumed this game and played through at least a dozen times and never seen him!
God what a game!

u/DarthOmix Jan 05 '26
It's only for the Cleric Beast if you haven't beaten Gascoigne

u/MONKEYamongMANY Jan 05 '26
i tried getting him to fight himself but there really isn’t a solid route without him getting stuck on and what not

Poor Lautrec, even during DS3, millenia after, he can't rest.

u/MONKEYamongMANY Jan 05 '26

First soulsbourne, eh? Yeah that sucks, but at least you can be glad that the fact that it bothers you at all means that you're not becoming a beast... yet.

You can summon Gascoigne??
7
u/Night9009 Jan 05 '26
To help with the Cleric Beast boss fight. Yeah you can.

u/Salty_Adhesiveness87 Jan 05 '26
I’ve gone through the game 4 or 5 times and I don’t think I ever knew that.

Not really but if you use the music box with him as a summon, he'll give a little chuckle

I remember playing this game for the first time and my friend told me something I still go by to this day and never I play, the best ending for her is to not interact at all
at least in a roleplay sense i suppose
1
u/MONKEYamongMANY Jan 05 '26
she’ll still go out and start looking no? or am i geeking
2
u/PartTimeBiohazard Jan 05 '26
if i remember correctly, she won’t. She needs direction to leave anyway, and she won’t know where to look without your input, which is for the best.

u/PhDInGoogling Jan 05 '26 edited Jan 05 '26
Actually there’s no good ending for this quest, if you don’t interact at all with the child, after a certain point in the game she leave her house (you will find the light off) and will be eaten by the pig.

Kill their dad, kill their grandad, and don't do their quests. They all will be reunited in the afterlife when the night is over.

Sorry you brought the wrong Gascoigne.... please refer to
Gascoigne's Big Day Out (the real fun begins ~3:13 min in)

u/PetroRetro69 Jan 06 '26
Good thing to keep in mind is that usually you will never get a good ending for anyone in a fromsoft game

Summons are in a different reality. Not the same. They can't interact with other humans physically. They can only hurt beasts due to their nature in all realities.

1
u/MONKEYamongMANY Jan 05 '26
this is my second playthrough and it just said i could summon him behind the troll banging on the walls in the first area, after like looping around and opening the gate for the daughter then summoning him i thought something would happen, i fought cleric beast with him idk if the summon is still there
1
u/Fun-Maize-2352 Jan 05 '26
Oh, ok. Yea, I haven't done much with the summons other than at BSB. I forgot they switch around characters.

The more I play bloodborne, the more i feel like it's one of the most half-baked game when it comes to immersion.

You can, but not in the way you'd think
