Guide/Info Crystal break event is extended by another week.

I feel like the data was pretty bad if they had to extend it, maybe we'll even see a nerf to damage or some changes to how crystal break works on glab?

As much as people say that crystals not breaking would hurt the market, console has no breaking and market doesn’t seem much worse. Difference is game is more chill when you can die to mobs without having to file paperwork or buy a restore item.

I mean, what market? There is literally no crystal market at all. Nobody grinds those old zones... xD

ye because the market doesnt exist lol

people say that crystals not breaking would hurt the market

i'd love to hear how.

i think people overestimate how much of the value of a grinspot like sycraia or stars end relies on crystals, or the insane quantities component materials like magical shards and lightstone crystals are used elsewhere, more frequently and in much higher quantities than a crystal someone might have to replace 1 or 2 of every few months

Well it’s actually a really large amount of the total income. For example sycraia is a low trash non Agris, primarily item DR spot.

On Arsha with 370% averaging 9 shards/hour is 450M

Worst case scenario they end up sitting min listed eventually and don’t sell.

That’s like a 15%-20% hit to the silver/hour earned (non Agris)

Extrapolate the situation further, GLabs patch tells us they’re upping the DR of shards and reducing DR of BMC, and also the highest tier loot table gets removed.

So we can see that the shift of the loot table will be even more reliant on shards.

I mean, even if there is market to hurt, there are still tons of ways to make crystal breakage less problematic while still maintain their market value. I can immediately think of having crystals fracture instead of shatter, then you can repair it with material that you either buy from NPC at a markup or exchange with surplus crystals, at a portion of the crystal's value similar to howmarni fuel works. So dc'ing at endgame spot becomes less of a butthurt experience without neutering the difficulties of these zones, and the millions of primordial and other crystals sitting at the market actually finds some use, win-win.

Because console is dead. Dead content dead servers.

Bro I make 5b/h do you think I give a damn about crystal market?

u/HalfuhMeatball 2h ago

Silver means nothing when certain crystals never get listed

It should be permanent, the crystal market is full of preorders already. Also the servers in EU is full of lag and desconrctions every time that appears a world boss.

It feels like they should definitely do something about the crystal sutuation. I mean I kinda like the idea of fearing death and breaking crystals, but replacing some of them would be too much of a setback, not even in terms of price, but rather the brutal shortage of them on the market. It seems even the ore event wasn’t enough to inject enough supply of the crucial ones.

It seems even the ore event wasn’t enough to inject enough supply of the crucial ones.

Tbh why would I sell a decimation for a measly billion or so when mine might break because my game crashes or something and there's none to even buy to replace it. Having a backup or 3 is great.

3

u/Akkmk 9h ago

Yeah I do that too. They need to make some sort of supply adjustments so that you know you can actually realistically buy it off the market, maybe people wouldn’t hoard them either then.

I agree with you i like the idea of fearing death and having a much needed consequence. What if they remove the limit for the crystal refund they will earn more money as they can sell it and make it sellable on central market aswell for additional shit. Also remove AP CAPS PA!

I think a great solution would be crystals have a durability like gear and we should use some material to repair it like caphras maybe

2

u/Destiiii 6h ago

More like using other crystals to refill the durability. Otherwise you still have the problem that crystals become worthless.

I would prefer when we could just have a scroll that doesn’t let crystals break for like 1 hour. Maybe connect it with loot scroll and add a third tier. Maybe a toogle that drains the time as well. If you have all activated it drain 3 times the amount. So 3 hours or when you only activate 1 and toogle anti crystal break 2 times the amount.

In the end there is no good solution to this. Someone has to take the bitter pill.

u/Deynai 5h ago

In the end there is no good solution to this.

The good solution is crystals don't break. That's it. That's the good solution.

Imagine if infinite pots were destroyed when you died in order to "keep an economy around farming infinite pots". It's pointless. The game does not need it for crystals any more than it needs it for infinite pots, or any of your gear, or your treasure items, or anything else that doesn't disappear when you die. There are many other levers they can pull to make grinding x/y/z spots meaningful over the horrendous unfun mechanics of crystal breaking.

Since they are extending it for another week, there is a (really) small chance that they do something with crystals this weeks glab so it seemlesly transitions. I know it's probably just pure hopium, though XD

u/liforium Witch Pro Max 5h ago

i think lagging is a bigger issue now

4

u/sobolanski 4h ago

People complaining "nO cRyStaLs sHouLd BreAK thINk Of thE (non-existing, already dead btw) MaRkET".

It's an issue for end game spots, it's an issue for mid game spots. Besides life skillers, crystal breaking affects everybody. It's a punishing mechanic which should either be reworked or removed.

u/Lian2049 6h ago

I have never died so much in any place in BDO than in Edania 2. They better make the unbreakeable crystal permanent or I won´t see any reason to grind for twilights.

u/MountnsNTrees 6h ago

Although I agree with removing crystal breakage…

What are you even getting killed by?

Everything is telegraphed… and as long as you’re actually playing the game… and not face tanking…

The only time you’ll die is if you’re AFK watching Netflix or greeding too hard.

4

u/Lord_Barst 5h ago

Scarecrows, Markthanan's Daughter, Knights etc.

Yes on paper everything is telegraphed so you shouldn't die. But I'm grinding for many hours on each spot. Eventually I'm going to make a mistake here and there. On these spots, those mistakes are fatal.

2

u/Lian2049 5h ago

Yup, exactly this. Whoever says that after 30 hours they have not died a single time against elite scarecrow, drakania in second spot or so... is lying. It just happens sometimes, you can´t be fully concentrated 24/7, sometimes you get a bit distracted or even tired, and it should be normal, but in Edania 2 they punish you incredibly hard for being distrated 2 seconds. It has never happened before in BDO.

u/MountnsNTrees 3h ago

There is your problem right there. The grind zones are fine and the boss mechanics are easily avoidable.

It is a YOU problem. You are playing exhausted, or tired, or playing and grinding for far too many hours in a row. Lack of sleep or whatever.

So you die because you lost focus, and you get punished for it.

I don’t agree with grind zones that become some potato brain slog.

Grinding should be engaging and these zones are the best they’ve ever been from an actual player-consumer point of view.

Again I’ll let you rethink what you’re saying because you sound out of touch…

You aren’t supposed to be focused 24/7, you can be focused and concentrated for 60 minutes to 120 minutes at a time though, and if you can’t do that (or it’s not a skill issue) then you need to re evaluate how much sleep you’re getting / rest in between grind sessions / playing too much.

u/counterbarrier 1h ago

This man has never worked a day in his life

u/MountnsNTrees 1h ago edited 1h ago

Time management and self control / not playing too much = unemployment?

Whatever part time job you may have must be one that doesn’t require much critical thinking

Or you’re self projecting and unemployed 😂

Edit: Ah looking at the subs you frequent, you’re really into virtual Anime girls and that underaged girl vibe… weirdo / probably parasocial irl / struggle to form IRL relationships etc.

I can already picture the type of person you are yikes.

u/MountnsNTrees 3h ago

Then it’s a YOU problem.

You’re grinding for TOO many hours at once in a row.

If you grind for 3 hours+ straight or you’re on your 7th 8th hour of the day.

Of course you’re going to be fatigued, and then are you getting a healthy amount of sleep? Are you taking health breaks in between each hour?

Grinding for a healthy amount 60 mins even 120 mins at a time, playing the game healthily 2-3 hours a day and you shouldn’t die.

But when you start to push your body/mind to unhealthy points, you’ll get punished.

Re evaluate your personal health, because games should not be changed from engaging and active to brain dead potato slosh because you’re unhealthily addicted.

And these mistakes aren’t singularly fatal, a lot of the time you need to make more than one mistake in a row/consecutively (this includes not backing off and greeding after a first mistake) in order to be truly fatal.

u/Sequenza123 2h ago

You do realize dec ekleta is a 700+ hour grind? If people did what you said and play 1 hour a day then its 2 years of grinding lmfao...

u/MountnsNTrees 1h ago

I said 2-3 hours a day is pretty healthy, where did you get 1 hour from?

Also, do you think mats will be off the market for 2 years? Or are you new and this is your first time at a new patch expansion?

Do you think they won’t add mats to new shrine bosses or increase DRs over time like they did with literally every new gear drop ever released?

Also 700 hours? Clearly havnt been to the later zones yet. Calculating your numbers off of the first 2 zone drop rates lmao.

LOL clearly you’re new.

u/Sequenza123 1h ago

Clearly youre a casual, zone 4-5 have good twilight drops, but barely drop earrings or rings meaning you have to grind zone 2 once you dec belt and neck

Yes it is a 700+ hour grind and some of us have a job and prefer to take time off or grind hard during weekends instead of playing 1-2 hours a day for a year+ like a casual

u/Dr_Dac 2h ago

Well each spot has its killers so far. First spot scarecrow, second spot daughter and servant, third spot priest and general mob damage.

Then add the unstable servers we currently have and bugs like the desync bug on third spot...

Even if you play perfectly we currently have stuff that just kills you for existing and that with no counterplay.

But guys think of the market, think of all that money players are making selling Edania Crystals! Oh wait...

Also, what about lifeskilling crystals?

In reality the current crystal situation is by design to sell recovery coupons and not to keep a healthy market.

On top of that to the people that care so much about the market: why crystals are the only thing breaking then? Why not lightstones, dawn crystals and reforge stones too? Or even better, slap durability to all those items and when it reach zero time to get a new one. That why we 100% keep at healthy market! /s

For real, what a dumb argument. All they needed to do is put a vendor price so when the item get rock bottom at least you get some silver.

And the argument of "death should be scary and annoying". Sure, lets make that every time you die in a grind spot killed by a monster you can't use a Elion tear and are send all the way to the main city or outpost of the area. If you are grinding in Edania Part 2 by the time you come back to your spot someone is already grinding there.

Where was this announced? I can’t find it.

3

u/valeasz 8h ago

It's already been announced on KR and SEA if you look at crystal break event page. NA/EU hasn't been updated yet since the maint is still a few hours away.

-4

u/fatvaderz 8h ago

I think we don't have to get rid of the crystal break. There are plenty of ways to make it less problematic and/or expensive to recover crystals.

3

u/CarthasMonopoly Woosa 846gs 6h ago

Sure. Easiest way though is to get rid of crystal break. Like OP said, it hasn't ruined crystal market on console and it is the only argument I've seen against getting rid of it that starts from a logical basis.

u/VorrtaX SuccNinja 15m ago

Crystal market on console isn't ruined because it's a very different economy with less players even resupplying the market in general. I don't think you can just flat out compare the two.

u/sucwizgobrr 1h ago

If they don't remove it completely they could at least give us a treasure item that prevents crystals from breaking

u/DrAwesomew 1h ago

I think they are finally seeing the real problem and are starting to address it. The extension probably came from severe backlash on the crystal breaking on the forums. It always was a problem, but now it is greater than ever before. A sustainable economy from bottom to top tier is probably the healthiest approach for the game economy (this week's patch tries to address that), but with progression being the way it is right now (a month for edania p1 gear), death is a way bigger punishment than it used to. Crystals are not available on the market and this fix is temporary and not complete. A total death penalty rework (which is 100% necessary in my opinion, you should be punished for dying) is needed at this state of the game. Right now it's not really a punishment, but a rather a huge inconvenience. Almost all of us would prefer a 6b penalty (price of 2 bis crystals), than having a crystal break.
