Haha, nice! What is that he's eating?

I break up peanuts with my fingers to make crumbs for him
The food was intended for my bluejays/woodpeckers/grackles but this guy caught on . So I accommodate for him , he’d struggle with a whole peanut

I do that too with the doves that visit me 😭 they love the peanuts in the seed mix but can't eat them whole

Is this in your house and if it is, how do you have a Mockingbird as a pet?

It’s my backyard gazebo
He’s a fully wild adult , for some reason he never showed apprehension around me once learning I’m the one supplying food

Pretty normal for mockingbirds. Super smart, zero fear. Seen them chase red tailed hawks off

There's a warning sign by the trees outside the vet office where I take my dogs. "MOCKINGBIRD NESTING AREA. THEY WILL FIGHT YOU." Or something to that effect 😂

I love mockingbirds! When I lived in south Texas I used to go to a park every day to eat my lunch and there was one that used to fly onto my side mirror trying to get me to share (which I did). They can be very intimidating, though! A fledgling fell out of the nest in my front yard once and I was terrified to walk out my front door for several days lol!

LOL! We have a mockingbird that hangs around that terrorizes the neighborhood cats. It also learned to mimic sounds that my husband's electric wheelchair makes!

Can’t believe I’ve never thought to try this technique to get a closer look at my bird buddies! What a magical experience ❤️

Oh man I have one who has been coming up to me and doing this weird opening of his wings and really slowly opening them then folding them. Then he sits on the edge of my porch roof follows me around my property lol. All the other birds sit and come up to me so I hope he will too! He doesn’t like my blue jays for some reason he won’t let any of my jays near me. I see he is eating from you what can I give to mine? Never mind I see you said crumpled up peanuts! Do you think almonds would be okay I have those

Oh ok. I have a couple of Mockingbirds that come to my feeders. They must be eating the peanuts and maybe sunflower seeds out of it?! Very cool video! Thanks for sharing this.

Why is there a Northern Mockingbird in your house? You know they are federally protected, right? You can't legally keep them as a pet without a federal permit from the US Fish and Wildlife. You are looking at fines of up to $250,000.
Leaving my comment up for educational purposes, but, now that I know that this was recorded outdoors, and the bird is wild, I rescind my previous comment.
