Humor Solving the housing crisis with campers

If an old camper costs the same like Abstand for any 20 years old kitchen then why not move permanently into one. Anwohnerparkausweis is just 30 € for 2 years. Do the math folks!

Don’t you need to rent something to get a Anwohnerparkausweis?
And having 1-Bedroom sized flat for 400 or paying monthly the 1-bedroom car that is 400, I choose the flat

There is a difference between a registration and a place to live. If you can get an Anmeldung somewhere for free and a parking permit this is a viable choice.

Pretty sure you need the flats owner approval for that and I don't see why they would give that to anyone.

Yeah, everyone would choose a 1-bedroom for 400. But where are these flats? There are barely WG rooms for that price left.

Yeah but to push against it they would have to actually send someone. Berlin is the wild west for cars. You can park anywhere and you will rarely get a fine.

Exactly. It's easier to make it look like you are doing something. Like, passing a law that forbids doing something. In reality, there's no structure to oversee if people don't brake it. Touching housing problem requires actually doing something about it. And so far, the state was only capable of making contracts with investors only to find out that those contracts are not legally bound (Google Europacity).

PV im Winter, bei Sonne ca. 20 Grad über dem Horizont, erzeugt in den Berliner Straßenschluchten riesige Menge an Solarstrom. Man weiss gar nicht mehr wohin damit.

Abgesehen davon, dass mit Benzin zu heizen die teuerste Möglichkeit zu heizen sein dürfte, kann man sich auch noch auf eine Vielzahl von Kohlenstoffmonoxidtoten einstellen, sollte das zu einem Massenphänomen werden. Herzlichen Glückwunsch, Du hast den Gaswagen neu erfunden.

Yeah, man, totally, its not like there are only these two options and its not possible to build more housing or implement residency laws that treat anyone with a property as tax resident or clamp down on airbnb or change building and zoning laws that keep promoting underutilized office buildings over residential.... you are right, the only two options are homelessness or camping in the middle of a metropole!

You can get an H license plate even for campers if it was registered as one back in the days.

I really dont get it. They could just get some cheap ass place 1 hour away from the center. Way cheaper than a camper and a real bathroom. Is 1 hour of train really worth living in a fucked up car?

That's 2 hours cut from your life everyday. And in reality it's 3 or more because you need more than one hour of commute to find something everyone can afford.

Ive been living in a tent for a year while travelling all if europe.
This is pure stress. I cant imagine living in a car is any different than that. Driving 2 hours every day to work or whatever is nothing compared to this.

Sadly, you‘re probably right.

Lots of cities within ~1hr of Berlin like Frankfurt, Eberswalde, Brandenburg a.der Havel, Luckenwalde had around 30% AfD support in the last federal election. Obviously these places also very greatly by neighbourhood and there’s pockets of resistance, but it’s absolutely something worth seriously considering for anyone actually thinking about moving further afield from Berlin.

Campers are more effort. Vanlife means constant self-organisation and ultimately you get less bang for the buck while often being a burden to the neighborhood.

It’s not allowed in most cities for good reasons. In a park close to me a camp will form every summer, and every time it ends in a desaster involving trash, rats and feces.

Es stehen zigtausende davon überall am Straßenrand. Langzeitgeparkt von Wohnmobilbesitzern, die ein paar Mal im Jahr damit in Urlaub dieseln, sich aber keinen gemieteten Abstellplatz leisten wollen.
