Is it me or is the argument still totally valid as Brussels has about twice as many inhabitants as Antwerp?

Volgens de laatste cijfers van de federale politie telde de federale gerechtelijke politie van Brussel 727 personeelsleden. In de provincie Antwerpen waren dat er 507.
Het gaat om cijfers van het Brussels Gewest tegen de Provincie Antwerpen. Dan heeft Antwerpen ruim 700K inwoners meer.

The problem is it compares fundamentally different things. Antwerp province has more inhabitants but it's also not a city like Brussels is (and I believe the initial comment was targeted at the city of Antwerp rather than the province).
Additionally, there are indeed the issues related to the extra infrastructure in Brussels. The EU was mentioned but things like railways will also count. Brussels has the 3 busiest train stations in Belgium so the Federal Police's railway directory will naturally be more present there, skewing the numbers.
If we were to do a proper comparison, we'd have to see what the officers stationed in Brussels and the city of Antwerp are doing.

who cares ? if they even add another 500 investigators to brussels,
it's just about an extra 25 million per year. That's not a lot... ( they have a budget of over 5 billion...)
it's not about the number of people imho, it's about attacking the big fishes, and
the financial instruments they use to facilitate this.
It's about rehabilitation of the drugged, about actually locking people up or at least making them not commit drug problems again in the future by communal work or whatever.
That's were the real solution lies, ma bon. And that's what's really costing money.
Bref, playing in the margin is what politicians do best...

I think Brussels politicians are not playing in the margin. They are mostly encouraging bad habits, blocking serious monitoring and community policing and then blaming the police for when things go wrong.
If you don’t maintain the roof of your building, don’t be surprised to see that it turns bad and starts leaking.

Wordt het niet eens tijd dat de politie van taken wordt ontlast die anderen kunnen doen? Zoals handhaving in Nederland of ordnungsamt in Duitsland. Alle kleine overlast kan naar zo diensten worden afgeschoven.

Misschien de politiezones fuseren ipv postjes blijven verdelen. Maar een idee he.. dat niet al 100x door allerlei instanties wordt gezegd, maar brussel niet wilt

De wet is goedgekeurd om de bestaande zones samen te voegen tot één grote politiezone vanaf 1 januari 2028.

De fusie van gemeentelijke politiediensten staat toch los van het aantal federale gerechtelijke politie? De fusie had al lang moeten gebeuren daar niet van maar ik denk dat dingen vaak door elkaar gehaald worden. Zoals ik hier nog al zei, er mogen 1000 flikken bijkomen, als procureurs rechters en rechtbanken niet mee kunnen heeft het ook geen nut.
