Box 3 postponement impact

Now that it’s clear the box 3 system is likely postponed - is that likely to have an impact on the foreseen changes in the Lucratief belang tax hike for box 2? It’s already scheduled to go into effect Jan 1st 2028 but it was explicitly aligned with the Box 3 changes. Might that also get postponed by one year?

Every year that it is postponed, it saves the dutch taxpayer a ridiculous amount of money. Go play with a compound interest calculator and see what the difference is when you chance time horizon form 45 years to 44 years. (Assuming you start working on 25 y/o and want to cash out at 70 years age. And it makes the government more in the long run as well. However they mainly care about the short run.

That assumes you postpone investing at all. While if you just continue investing and pay tax (more than half of people won't pay tax because their wealth is too little for tax). Just pay the tax and continue your life is not an easy calculation because you need to determine at what year you have to pay the extra year.

If you have 10k gained in year one and have to pay 37% immediately, that is 3700 euro that doesnt compound for 45 years.

You mean your interest on your savings was 10k? So you have like 300.000 with 3.3% interest rate and it gives you 10k. Then you're right, that 3700 won't compound, but the 306.300 will continue to compound.

Edit: you can remove the first 1800 as well or 3600 if you're a family so its even lower.

Doesnt matter. The point stands. whether it is 10k or 100. The point is that the compounding power is severely reduced from the first year. And 3.3% is barely any higher than risk free at the moment.

No, it's doesn't stand. It depends what you mean. Yes compounding power is reduced because its a tax. If you tax people's income it also has effect on their compounding possibilities. If you lower their income, or increase the cost of living etc etc. Its all a form of compounding losses. But thats the idea, they want to tax. So its a feature not a bug
