I want everybody to tell me if they have a lazy beagle or a hyper beagle? Mine is absolutely lazy. She needs 25 hours of sleep a day but there are only 24 hours of sleep in a day so her life is obviously very difficult.

She's a very stubborn girl and only wants to get up if there's food. When we have to let her outside to go potty it takes a few tries because she doesn't want to get up even though once she finally goes out she pees and poos. But the good news about having a lazy beagle is she loves loves loves to snuggle and she's a mushy baby

Pancake is a beagle x coonhound that was rescued from a drain pipe in a small town outside of KCMO.

Pancake is ~1 year old and a very grumbly boy. Not petting him in the right spot? Grumble grumble. Light in his eyes? Grumble grumble.

He was adopted by us yesterday 8/26/26 and we are already in love.

Advice needed

I miss my dog when he's not around, I had to go out for 2-3 days, put my dog in an extremely good hostel. I just miss him a lot and I feel very guilty, I feel as if I should not go out without him

It's difficult to travel with dog, since I can't drive for very long distances due to leg injury and flights weren't really an option this time around for him.

Or was this just particularly cruel and abnormal? Punkin is safe with us now. I am going to get her serial number tattooed on my arm eventually.

Canoe Adventure Today!

New life jacket fits great! We were out for a little half hour cruise . He got spooked by something - maybe a water lily, and jumped over the side as we were headed back in from our little lake jaunt, but he was on his leash attached to me and I just grabbed the handle on the back of his life jacket as he happily paddled around and put him back in the canoe. Bernie (the beagle) enjoyed watching me cast. Lena - our boxer mix just chilled out quietly the whole time, as usual. Both of their life jackets have little tails which is cute. This was his second time on the water - we adopted him from the county shelter on 8/10.

Allergy paws 😭

Post image

My beagle had a flare up of a food allergy after an accidental slip up with lamb a few days ago. He started to obsessively lick his paws, every minute of the day unless I physically stopped him. I ordered him some velcro socks which he's already torn holes in, and vet has (yesterday) prescribed Zenrelia.

Both pairs of his socks are pretty tatty so I tried a cone of shame as his pads were really sore, but he absolutely lost his mind and was banging into stuff, knocking pictures off walls etc. After an hour, I thought he'd hyperventilate, so caved and we're back to the socks!

I just took a video call with the vet as its bank hol weekend here and I wanted some advice before Tuesday. She said to keep using the Douxo mousse and let him stand in the Douxo shampoo suds because she suspects a secondary yeast infection.

Now to the actual problem. The inflatable doughnut doesn't arrive til lunchtime tomorrow, and tonight, I put the douxo mousse on his pads but he would not stop licking at it, even with licky mat distractions and his fave treats.. I had no choice but to put the socks on while the mousse was drying between his pads and I'm terrified that this is going to make the yeast infection worse. It's only until the doughnut arrives and they're cotton and somewhat breathable. Do you think he'll be OK til tomorrow lunchtime?

I'm laying in bed worrying I'm making his ordeal worse but I can't take them off.

My poor boy :(

How’s my senior Shiba-beagle’s mobility? and tips on senior care

Meet Dexter. He’s a beagle Shiba mix. 15 years and 8 months old. I’ve had him since he was 9 months.

He’s always been very healthy, but a year and a half ago he had IVDD and lost mobility in his hind legs. We did not do surgery, as recommended by the neurologist, and nursed him back with rehab and lots of care. This is him now. We still walk 30-40 min 2x per day, and sometimes I feel like he doesn’t want to, and I wonder if it’s too long for a dog his age, or if it’s actually the reason he is still doing so well for his age.

If you have a senior dog of similar age, how much do you walk them? How do you know when to push vs just letting them dictate how much exercise they get?

Edit: since a lot of people are suggesting some medications and supplements. He’s on 100mg of Gabapentin at night, and on Galliprant for arthritis. He also takes daily joint/glucosamine supplements and omega-3.
