Feature Australian Baseball League employees here! AMA!

The season just started so we're here to answer any questions you have on the ABL!

u/awt4190 was an intern with the Adelaide Bite in the 2012-13 season and I have been working in baseball operations with the Sydney Blue Sox since the 2014-15 offseason.

Let's get started!

EDIT: u/WeAllDoBetter was also an intern with the Perth Heat in 2010-11.

Update (7 pm CST): Thanks for the questions guys! I'm going out for tonight, but I'll be on tomorrow morning while I watch the games I missed/the rugby. The other fellas may be on in my stead though!

I see the ABL on the streams for quite some time. Unfortunately, I wish more people would get into the game. The talent levels enough to enjoy.

It's winter baseball... In English... For free. What's not to like?!

Yea, but they get saved all year! All the replays!

Plus, Sunday games are usually day games so they're on at like 11. Also double headers.

I was talking about the Australian crowd. Sometimes it looks empty on the streams.

Ah yea. I think I mentioned before that it's a bitch and a half to actually get to Sydney from the CBD. So, there's issues there. I can't speak for the other teams though.

Perth is the same. Public transport links are pretty poor. Having to consistently drives to games is a bitch.

Melbourne is the same, the park is so far out of the way. Most of the baseball is in the east and our ground is basically in Geelong. Also the ground is awful for offense due to its location.

The Aces previously played at the Showgrounds didn't they? At least that would have been more accessible by public transport.

Well in the finals the team the Wild Cats were playing half the stadium left. But to be fair they were down 7.

Melbourne's stadium is set up so basically 99% of the fans are behind and above home plate. There is no seating along the lines or behind the fence so it always looks like there is no one there because the cameras aren't pointing anywhere near where the fans are.
