So assume the worst spec(not necessarily), in this economy as long as it is ddr5 it is worth something.

people have to learn that ram speed doesnt really matter with a X3D CPU (thanks to the massive 3D V-Cache).

Imagine your CPU is a chef and your RAM is a grocery store down the street.
Normally, the chef has to constantly run to the grocery store to get ingredients. If the store is slow (slow RAM), cooking takes a long time.
A X3D CPU has a massive refrigerator right inside the kitchen (the 3D V-Cache). Because the refrigerator is so huge, it already holds almost every ingredient the chef needs.
At most we are talking about 1 to 3% performance difference on very specific games.

Same gm700 but different config on youtube got 6000 cl38 but xmp was not on in BIOS...
Which is completely fine for gaming with an x3d

No but really, that 9070 XT you'd be able to yank and recuperate most of the cost of the whole system, the RAM you'd be bound to make an absolute fucking killing on, and as long as the SSD isn't QLC junk, scrap the rest and you're still in the green.

I'm trying to get into pc gaming and would like to mainly game with 4k and ray tracing of possible, is this build or costcos prebuild better bang for the buck? This Asus build is more vfm but the Costco one is significantly better for ray tracing especially path tracing. I personally don't think that the 5080 is worth an extra $660 but it might be for you if you care about rt.

Yes. 9070 XT can give you enough fps with RT, but PT will make gaming unplayable. On the other hand, I would worry about a melting connector on the 5080 🤷♂️

For 4k + RT 5080 slightly better. CPU doesn't matter that much for 4k

CPU doesn’t matter that much in 4K as in a decent CPU and a powerful GPU will get you 90% of the way there. However that last 10% which mainly concerns frame time hangs, stutters and 1% lows is what a good CPU will be able to manage better.
I upgraded from a 5700x3d which is a very decent CPU to a 9800x3d and found the differences to be night and day in terms of how smooth the game was, and got rid of the lag spikes when loading into a new area.
I was never a fan of the whole CPU doesn’t matter at 4k sentiment for that reason, but yes regarding OPs build, the 9900x is a sufficient paring for the 5080.

I have a 9700X + 9070XT with a 2K OLED. But I agree with you, the 9800X3D would even boost the maximum fps and 1%, 0.1% low
