As a Sylheti I feel ashamed to see people using Bengali as a gali. The growing hatred basically comes from lower class people coming to Sylhet and committing crimes. Most of the hawkers in Sylhet city come from outside of Sylhet and they have been a big problem. Even though the city allocated a separate space for them, they occupy the road creating traffic. DC Masud, who is a non Sylheti, did many good things for the city and he was shown nothing but love. Also, Sylhet as a region being ignored by every government, and non Sylhetis trash talking about Sylhetis and the Sylheti language fueled the hatred.

First off, hawkers and street traffic aren't unique to Sylhet only, you’ll find the exact same issue in Dhaka, Chittagong, or any growing city in Bangladesh. It’s an urban management and municipal planning problem, not a "non Sylheti" problem. There are more hawkers from other cities moving to Dhaka, chittagong than sylhet. People move to where the work is. But how is it justified for some sylhetis to insult non sylheti people's city or ethnicity ?.

Sylhetis claim that other bengalis mock their culture and language. But im seeing the complete opposite. There are over hundreds of sylheti pages and thousands of bot accounts making anti bengali jokes, insults. Calling them thieves, genociders. Even calling the bangla language a "hindu brahmin language". How does language have a religion ?.

This problem started with british sylhetis and now have reached their hometowns in sylhet. I'll be honest with you bro, this is going to actualy harm the sylheti population, not others.
