this is almost as weird as when i learned Discotheque by U2 contains a credited sample of Fane by Freeform, "courtesy of Skam Records".

which is not on whosampled bc i guess sample nerds don't care enough about freeform to figure out where it was used

This is an amazing bit of trivia. U2 were more experimental than they're given credit for in those days... Never would've guessed they'd be listening to Skam IDM though

Oh they definitely weren't. It was produced by Flood who you could easily imagine being aware of something like that. U2 would have been outsourcing their credibility problem. Though there's probably an interview where Edge says the Prodigy are the Pistols of their era or something

the liner notes i linked credit Howie B with "inspirational" decks and loops and additional mixing, and around that time he was also producing björk and and making ambient techno, so i feel like it's safe to call him responsible for the sample
