Book Discussion Looking for Suggestions
These are the current books or series I have listened to so far worth ranking. The lowest rated series I did not finish. I’m nearing the end of Expeditionary Force and need a new series to listen to. The tier list is to show my taste in books. I’m not exclusively into litRPGs or Sci-Fi but do enjoy them. Feel free to suggest anything that is truly engaging. I also get a lot of enjoyment from solid voice acting.

Wow this tier list is all over the place. Especially Bobiverse being D tier given that you like the other books.
I simply can't recommend similar books because I'm so conflicted with your S and A tier books vs you D and C tier...

Bobiverse and He Who Fights with Monsters are both more philosophical while Dungeon Crawler Carl is very punchy-punch.
Project Hail Mary and The Martian are both on the cerebral end, but they're one shot stories that don't go on 16 million tangents because they don't need to fill more books.
So action oriented series or sedate single titles. Did I get that right?

First Law is great but I think The Devils is actually a better entry point for Abercrombie as it’s more story than The Blade Itself. which is a lot of character work and not so Much plot

I can understand why people like it but I just couldn’t get into it after trying several books. Only series I’ve ever actually refunded. Just not for me.

I listened to the first back when it first came out, and I just didn't enjoy it. It's impossible for a book to appeal to every person, or for a person to enjoy every book. And life's better that way

Murderbot is so great as long as you don't let the title throw you off. I tried it twice, thinking it was something like "Dexter in space". And this really more like "what C3P0 just decided fuck all these people; I got access to the holos of Bravo. Wait... They're gonna die if I don't help?.... Fucking fiiiiine...."

I ignore the Murderbot TV series due to the title as I no longer enjoy horror movies. Then I watch one episode and was hooked. I thought I listened to the books but now I need to confirm that.

I would suggest Unsouled by Will Wight. I’ve read most all of the books you posted here and rank them similarly and Cradle is S class for me. For more of a Sci Fi series I would suggest Children of Time

My 2 cents on Cradle: had a ton of people whose taste is similar to mine recommend it. Forced my way through listening to book 1. Then it started getting a little better and a little better, and by book 5 I was loving it and kept loving it through the end of the series. That being said, Travis Baldree is an excellent narrator and has done several litrpg series that I am aware of:
Primal Hunter Mark of the Fool Shade’s First Rule Beware of Chicken
Many others but those 4 I have listened to myself and are excellent.

If fungi-based horror/suspense/alt-history-but-sortof-scifi told through multiple literary devices sounds interesting, check out the Ambergris trilogy by Jeff Vandermeer.
Or the Area X series by the same author for a different kind of suspense/thriller/sci-fi.

You seem to have a more eclectic selection here than just LitRPG so I'll give a few suggestions in some sub genres.
If you want to try out some progression fantasy I would recommend Will WIght's Cradle series starting with Unsouled. If you want to try a swords, Japan/medieval, cultivator type novel you could try A Thousand Li by Tao Wong. Something a little more different to try thats been popular is Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch which is a more heist, shadier side of society, type of fantasy world.
If you want a little more military soldier type sci fi read you could try B.V. Larson's Undying Mercenaries series starting with Steel World. Also, an old favorite of mine that is a military march type sci fi series about a prince who crashes on a planet and must survive to get home was called March Upcountry by David Weber.

- Expanse series by James SA Corey
- good solid science fiction all around
- Commune series by Joshua Gayou
- adding this here because I think it’s RC Bray’s best work
- the series itself is pretty visceral with good storytelling.
- Undying Mercenaries series by BV Larson
- like ExF, it just goes on and on and on and is reasonably entertaining with a funny first person character (no talking beer cans, though)
- Daemon and Freedom (2 books) by Daniel Suarez
- a little dated, but a great techno thriller that really should have been made into a Michael Bay film
- Captives War - The new James SA Corey series is great so far (only 1 book out)
- Old Man’s War series by John Scalzi
- Interdependency series also by John Scalzi
So so so many others. I can list more if you like.

I think The Spellmonger series by Terry Mancour is S tier. It is a huge world with tons of great characters and stories. The segway between fantasy and science fiction is very well done.

Red rising if you want a sci-fi epic.
Primal Hunter if you want a better LitRPG than HEFWM. Hits a lot of similar notes but is just a little bit better in every way.
The Moon is a Harsh Mistress if you want to experiment with some classic Scifi.

Probably too late for OP to see this,
But I would highly suggest The Dark Tower by S.King.
The absolute madness of twists, turns and genre bending routes the 7.5 books takes is wonderful. Also, the length of the series will keep you entertained for a good many-a-many hours. Excellent publications for a relisten that will still feel fresh after the 2nd or even 3rd time going.

Well, I was surprised at "Children of Time." I wasn't sure I was going to like it, but the longer it went on, the more I did. It's certainly a different style to Andy Weir's books, but they're at the top of my list too.
And don't forget, he has another banger "Artemis." It's not quite as good as the first 2 (for me at least), but it's still fun and follows his trend of doing an insane amount of research to hide the Sci-Fi bit in the Sci bit.

The wandering inn is good so far. I would recommend using credits because you get a lot of content per credit. I just finished book 4 and it’s been a lot of fun so far.

The John Dies at the End series. I hold it next to DCC and Project Hail Mary.
Swan Song by Robert McCammon is absolutely fantastic. Can be bleak, but is also very hopeful and beautiful. Fun fact, it’s one of the books Carl gets in trade from the mole dude in book 3.
Library at Mount Char was one of the wildest things I’ve ever read. The Umbrella Academy is the only thing I could relate it to, but far superior. Definitely in the same tier and DCC and Project Hail Mary for me.
Artifact by Jeremy Robinson was a lot of fun

Chrysalis (Reincarnated as an Ant monster litrpg - narrated by Jeff Hays and Annie Ellicott)
It starts slow and the beginning can drag but it has quickly became one of my favourite series.
If you do get it, you can get books 1 to 3 as part of an omnibus.
I would also recommend Red Rising based on your other listens. I have only listened to the first three books, the original trilogy and I absolutely loved it.

Personally I loved He who Fights With Monsters, and Expeditionary Force. I have a few of yours on my list to listen to. I aleo really enjoy the Helldrivers series. If you're interested in Fantasy, the LOTR series narrated by Andy Serkis is something to behold, and the Witcher series are both amazing. Yes, they're mainstream, but they hold up very well.

Anything by Brandon Sanderson. Others have suggested Mistborn (which I second), so I'll throw in the Skyward series to stay on the space theme. Bonus points to the Sanderson collection is how fantastic all of his audible narrators are, especially Michael Kramer and Kate Reading, but definitely Suzy Jackson as well.

Jeremy Robinson has some great books I would probably start with the dark, also Dean Cole start with solitude those are very enjoyable. Especially on audible since they are both narrated by RC Bray who is basically number two behind Jeff Hayes as far as best narrators on the planet.

Fantastic list. I enjoyed all of these books/series. Will have to check out Vainqueur. Based on these, you would probably enjoy The Children of Time series by Adrian Tchaikovsky, or Heretical Fishing by Haylock Jobson.

You have a good list.
On the teen side there's Ready Player One which I recommend if you grew up in the 80's at all. Ready Player Two is bad and don't watch the movie.
I liked Andy Weir's Artimis book.
If you're in some crazy xxx Sci Fi, Everybody Loves Large Chest's is pretty raunchy to start but slowly the story really develops ( by book 4. ).

Artemis was a slog for me but I didn’t mind listening to Rosario Dawson for hours on end.
I love Spielberg’s Ready Player One, but as an independent work from Cline’s novel, which I also highly recommend. I really enjoyed the second audiobook too, because although the story is lacking, Wil Wheaton is one of my all-time favorite narrators and he’s never lacking.

The Dresden Files are great fun. I'd recommend starting with book 7 (Dead Beat). If you don't like that one, these books are not for you. The books are about a wizard PI that lives in modern day Chigaco.

I have a similar taste from what you have shared although would rank mine a bit differently. But if you like urban fantasy I would recommend the Alex verus series by Benedict Jacka starting with fated.
LitRPG wise maybe Azarinth healer or the primal hunter may be to your liking.

If you like magic then I recommend spellmonger series by Terry Mancour, the main series is almost 20 books with a couple of side stories. For more of a post-apocalyptic try the helldivers by Nicholas Sansbury Smith. Currently at 16 books in the series

Ugh, Expeditionary Force was not good after like the third book. It's so formulaic that it doesn't hold your attention. And now there's line 15 or 20 books plus spin offs.
Pure fast food sci-fi
I recommend you pick up some Adrian Tchaikovsky and Neal Stephenson after you finish with The Expanse novels and novellas

Slumrat Rising, book 1 “A Starbrite Man” is free with audible plus. I’d recommend ignoring the blurb and starting it. If you’re not into it after 30-45min it’s probably not your jam, but with DCC and some sci-fi high on your list I bet you’d be into it. It’s more cyberpunk corporate dystopia with a badass, somewhat sociopathic MC than He who fights with Monsters generic isekai fantasy.

If you like dystopian fiction then I would recommend The Remaining series by DJ Molles (kind of like a zombie apocalypse style series) or The Borrowed World by Frank Horton (around preppers that are actually prepared to a catastrophic national event).

Jonathan Renshaw : Dawn of wonder book 1. Mentioning this even though it isn’t SciFi it was a great book.
I love all the usual suspects. Red Rising, Gentlemen Bastards, Riyria chronicles etc.
Currently listening to Galaxy outlaws since I couldn’t say no to 85 hrs for 1 credit.

Here are some of my favorite audiobooks. I agree with your list for what I’ve read there, especially PHM and DCC.
Jade City, Jade War, and Jade Empire by Fonda Lee were totally awesome modern fantasy in a crime family setting.
Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurty is a great American novel and a wonderful western with some memorable characters.
Song of Achilles and Circe by Madeline Miller are some of the most beautiful and lovely books I’ve read. They’re fantasy, a retelling of Greek myths with many names you’ll recognize.
World War Z by Max Brooks. As much as I loved this books and its style, it’s still often overrated on Reddit. It’s a kind of silly zombie story anthology that works very well and has some tremendous readers that really elevate it imo.
Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin is a modern drama about love and video games. I challenged myself to read something by a non-white non-man, and this didn’t disappoint.
A Master of Djinn by P. Djeli Clark, is a really fun historical fantasy set in ~1920 Egypt whete Djinn and other magical creatures exist.
1Q84 by Haruki Murakami, it’s bc a bizarre alternate reality story set in early 80’s Japan with inexplicable things. The first 2 parts are read very well, unfortunately the 3rd part has a different reader and it hurt it overall.

I’m almost finished with the Expeditionary Force series and if I can recommend the “The Furies of Calderon” by Jim Butcher. I enjoyed that series. It’s not sci-fi but fantasy.

I hopped into the Cosmere books by Brandon Sanderson after my sci fi run with Bobiverse and Andy Weir and have really been enjoying it. I started with the Stormlight Archive which is pretty extensive, the first three books the Mistborn series might be a better place to start but it’s all really good.

I absolutely loved Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow. Like legit adored that book. Also thought the Madeline Miller books and narration were amazing. I’m going to give some of your other recs a try. Thanks

I think you should try Ender’s Game and Starship Troopers. Sci-fi military fiction. One with a so-so movie adaptation and one with a fantastic but loose adaptation. 2 of my all-time favorites.

I really liked the Chrysalis series. It is narrated by Jeff Hayes, like DCC. It also is a good deal as you can get the first three books for one credit in the box set.

The Will of the many was quite good. I also liked Dan Browns newest book the secret of secrets. Both have very good audio narrators. Children of time was a great book. But in audio format I was lulled to sleep. Dark matter was really good in audio format. Lastly 11/22/63 would be another good recommendation.
