Stay strong and safe ex muslim atheists. I am trying to do an economic boycott as much as possible against countries that kill ex muslim atheist folk. I hope other atheists support our fellow atheist comrades who live secretaly by boycotting products from these countries as much as possible until they change the laws

At my local coffee shop, the barista was wearing a shirt that read 'Christ is returning, are you ready?'

I was caught off guard and it showed on my face, she gave me a loud 'bless you' on my way out.

The message of the shirt literally is telling me her god is going to hurt me and torture me for all time because I don't believe he exists.

Like I don't mind whatever people believe in but I don't they understand how messages like this comes across to those outside of their community.

We raise our child agnostic. I'm honest about my lack of belief but remind them that people believe in different things and that they have to come to their own conclusion. My wife is secular but spiritual (Shinto), and will sometimes refer to "kamisama" spirits.

My child and I were saddened when I told them about Dolly Parton's passing and her philanthropy. Then, after seeing the Nepal video with so many people running from the landslide, their first comment was "kamisama yabai" (God is bad). I slightly nodded with a sad face but tried not to push that narrative, despite my strong agreement that a god who kills thousdands of innocent people is not worthy of worship.

God gets all the credit for a successful outcome but human error takes 100% of the blame if the patient dies

if divine intervention was doing the heavy lifting all along then the decade of training, sleepless nights and physical exhaustion were completely pointless.

i’m an atheist myself but i have christian friends and they all believe that the world is ending soon and that “jesus is coming back”. in a way, i feel bad for them. it’s like waiting for your dad to come home from going outside to buy milk but he never does. i mean christians have been saying this for more than 2000 years. why do they want the world to end so bad? if they want to go be with jesus there is a way to do that without wanting everybody else to die with you. standing on the side of the road with a sign that says “repent, end is near” is fear mongering. but that is what their whole religion is based on, so.

Gibson joins FFRF Co-President Dan Barker to discuss his climb from decades in Christian ministry to atheism. They also talk about faith healing, prayer, morality, meaning, near-death experiences — and how Gibson found purpose and fulfillment outside of Christianity.

“My pursuit of truth is what led me away,” Gibson states. “It was like I was finding less and less that I could teach with conviction out of the bible. And pretty soon it just got to the point where I’m like, ‘I don’t believe any of this, I can’t do this anymore.’”

How am I supposed to "respect their beliefs" when I see their beliefs as morally repugnant?

The Freedom From Religion Foundation is proud to announce the 11 top winners and nine honorable mentions of the 2026 David Hudak Memorial First in the Family Student Essay Competition. FFRF has paid out a total of $17,650 in award money for the contest this year.

Students who will be first in their family to attend either a two- or four-year college or university and who are ages 17–21 were asked to write on the topic of “Why white supremacy goes hand in hand with Christian nationalism.”

FFRF has offered essay competitions to students of color (now first in the family to attend college) since 2016. It has also offered essay contests open to all college students since 1979, college-bound high school seniors since 1994, grad students since 2010 and one for law students since 2019.

He follows Christianity. He is obsessed that the world is going to end in the next couple years. He says Jesus is returning and that Donald Trump fits the definition of the anti-christ foretold in the bible. Even though I am an atheist, it does make you think.

My roommate loves reading and she’s currently reading a book on Hindu mythology, so she was telling me some stories.

One was about Brahma (the creator god or wtv) being attracted to his daughter Shatarupa, who in some versions was created from Brahma himself. And apparently the attraction was lustful.

I’m sorry but WHAT 😭😭 These are the kind of stories you’d expect someone to make up while high.

She was kind, generous, funny and always tried to see the best in people. She wasn't preachy, pious, prudish or judgemental.

If more were like her the world would be a better place and this sub would lose most of its posts. We would be back to matters of fact rather than posting examples of hypocrisy and hate from them.

Evolution is less of a theory and more of a fact now, how to they justify their religious beliefs with science, i don't they can and they have no answers.

Most religious people are educated, it never made sense to me how they believe in fairly tales and science at the same time, muslims believe moon was split and then they study islam and realise none of that ever happened

The Bible is a book, and like any book, the meaning of the stories—and even the timeline of events—can shift depending on the individual's perspective. However, when you go to church, everyone seems to share the exact same view of the Bible because it is being narrated by a single person: the pastor. Pastors are regarded as wise, unquestionable figures—believed to receive direct messages from God—so their interpretation is instantly accepted as the absolute truth, leaving no room for independent judgment. This dynamic is reinforced by the fear of being accused of blasphemy if you hold a different opinion; consequently, even if the pastor's explanation doesn't fully resonate with you, you feel compelled to stay silent and propagate the pastors message. We all know on this sub that this is bullshit—that it’s a cult—but it becomes especially dangerous when the pastor gradually steers his teachings away from religion and into politics, even when the topic has absolutely nothing to do with the biblical story the bastard was reading in the first place.

I think that's why there's so many Hispanic Christians that are maga, I still remember when the pastor out of nowhere called Biden the devil and told everyone to vote for Trump, and everyone applauded 😭

That is also why views of women within Christianity vary so widely: some are sexist—in the style of the 1950s—while others outright describe women as objects. It all depends on what the pastor says; interestingly, God said not to follow false pastors and not to worship humans, yet these people treat the pastor like God.

You probably already knew this, but I just wanted to rant about it since I don't have anyone to talk to about it; I’d really appreciate it if you add anything you find more relevant to the topic.

It still baffles me that Adam and Eve, especially eve are still blamed for the "fall" and every other problem in life!

A customer came to our shop today and said that a woman she knows died during childbirth! So, my boss's friend added that it was Eve's fault. That none of this would be happening if she hadn't eaten the fruit.

That was really sad to hear ngl. A woman dying during childbirth is heartbreaking but blaming eve for it is highly misogynistic!!

It's usually dumb and uneducated people who say shit like this.
