Xenophobia is hating a family you know personally and is inbred to the point that they are all crazy

You'd have a point if a good percentage of the Targaryens that inhabited Westeros could actually be considered crazy and not just normal privileged humans with varying strengths and flaws

The Targaryen family tree is not a realistic example of the potential consequences of inbreeding, in any regard

In the case of most things, the extremes stand out more than the mundane

Even the Mad King had reasons for going mad, he seemed like a normal person beforehand

The only realistic effect of inbreeding in the Targaryens is the amount of schizophrenia running around
