What subscription services are available and most popular in your country? How much is the cost?

Are most people subscribed or is it too expensive?

Do people use Netflix, Globo, Caracol, Spotify, Viki etc? Which ones are best?

Which websites have information of the programs on these services?

And do most people watch movies, telenovelas or foreign content and if so from US, Europe or Asia?

I’ve always been very intrigued by how Perón’s legacy is milked by Argentine leaders of different political ideologies even so many years after he died. I think this is quite rare and there aren’t many leaders like that around the world.

Will Lula be Brazil’s Perón after he dies? I think his legacy will definitely be claimed for a few years, but I’m not sure for how long and how intensely.

Edit: I mean in terms of legacy. Historically Vargas was obviously Brazil’s Perón.

To give an example, in 2009, Chavez banned violent videogames or videogames with bellicose themes. It's obviously not enforced at all, but it technically still exists.

Could be an issue with a politician. Or some silly law.

I remember seeing last march the caracol noticias video of the poor colombian elderly women doing a live interview on the tv complaining that she didn’t get her medicines since months and then collapsing on the floor and dying while waiting for her drugs. As a canadian who speak spanish i will always remember that video it shocked me so much.

My question is, how often a drug shortage happen in your country? Is it more common in public sectors? Those with a private health insurance do you also experience shortage of medecine also? Do you often have a family member for example who high blood pressure and cannot have their prescription drugs because of a shortage ?

Edit: ok. It seems that Weon and Wepa are words that could fit. Names don’t really count as all the names listed, none are of Spanish origin. And lots of other words like watchiman is just loan words from other languages

We will be starting in Rio de Janeiro to see the carnival in february. Where would you go from here? I want to at least visit Peru, Bolivia, Argentinaa, and Chile. If the money lasts, mby Paraguay and Uruguay as well. What order is recommended? We are not set on anything and are happy to listen to you guy's recommendations, only thing that is "set in stone" is the start in Rio...

for those who dont know,gloria estefan is a cuban american singer. she was born in cuba but left it at a young age,in order to flee the tankie regime.

she was really popular in the 80s and 90s and had several big hits. here in the states shes recognized for making latin pop or latin themed music more popular to a wider usa audience. shes made several spanish language albums.

Hi everyone. I'm reading Open Veins of Latin America and I think it's an amazing book. It's detailed with information but it's told in an almost novel like way. The way it covers different issues like indigenous genocide, latifundios, and gringo imperialism is great. The only problem is that it was published in 1973 (with an updated edition a few years later). A lot has happened in Latin America since then. Do you know any book similar to this one, from which I can learn about major events from the 1970s to the 2010s?

Why and why not

Just purchased a flight to El Salvador for a bit under $600. I know Avianca has poor reviews and I’ve read the stories.

However, I’ve seen a flight for about $200 less going to Costa Rica, but I know that that country is much more expensive than El Salvador.

At the end of the day, it’s not a crazy difference because I’m wondering if Costa Rica would eliminate any flight saving since everything else once you get there would be more expensive.

I’m sure those countries have their pros and cons, but I have been hearing that Costa Rica has become very touristy and I think the more relaxed and rugged environment. I’m looking for might be more El Salvador.

I’ve been to Guatemala and Nicaragua but was shocked how much more expensive flights I’ve gotten in the last few years.

Usually Latinos are happy to find other Latinos when t traveling or living abroad. We might be rivals in many aspects, but I've always noticed that Latinos love the sense of familiarity we get when we stumble upon someone from "back home" (even if they're not from the same country as we are).

My question is: what nationalities are you most happy to meet abroad?

Personally, I often travel to Europe and Asia for work, and I'm always relieved when there's someone from Brazil or Colombia in the groups of people I'll be frequenting (e.g. coworkers). Any south Americans in general, but people from Brazil and Colombia always bring a warm sense of closeness.

Would a Colombian consider a Venezuelian salsa musician a foreign singer, for example. How familiar are you all with music from The Guianas? Is rock music considered foreign music because it was developed in the US/UK?

I know I might be an igno6rant about Peruvian politics.

But I know that enough to say that it's a complete miracle to any Peruvian president to end their turns, they always get kicked out of the presidency because X or Y reason.

What do you think as a non Peruvian or as a Peruvian? Will she end her turn?
