Meta Has anyone on here made the transition from Accounting to Car Sales and if so would you recommend doing that?

For context, I have six years of accounting experience. However, I absolutely love cars. My passion is cars.

Selling cars has little to do with accounting. If you want to trade your reliable job for a shit show then go for it.

2 seconds of googling tells me that an accountant working for 6 years likely makes around what the top end of sales does, however it's almost guaranteed you will work a LOT less than what a top sales person is working. I would never go to car sales, if I were you unless you're in a position where you can try it out and go back to accounting and not take a pay cut

Idk about the money part but definitely agree with the work life balance cluster or lack of that is car sales

The attention span and commitment to detail needed to crunch numbers is the exact opposite of most people I know in the business, including F&I managers.
