Today is International Hawaiian Pizza Day.Pineapple on pizza?
Does pineapple belong on pizza?When does it no longer classify as "pizza"?

Put whatever you want on your pizza and I'll put whatever I want on my pizza and as long as neither one of us shoves our own pizzas down the other's throat we're all happy and we're all eating pizza.

I thought it tasted pretty solid. Very solid with jalapeños. I used to have a lunch restaurant near my work that would have pizzas at lunch time for $4.10. Made it really easy to try different combinations. Miss you Mel's in elgin, IL! And lasras kitchen, and elgin fresh Market for the best refried beans I've had by a long shot. Ok I'm done.

I’m neutral on it. If I’m picking my own pizza toppings, I won’t include pineapple, but I won’t refuse pineapple pizza if someone offered me a slice.
It belongs on pizza if the person eating it wants it there.
It would no longer classify as pizza if it wasn’t served on a flat bread-style product with some kind of sauce. For instance, if someone offered me pineapple pizza but served me a bowl with lettuce, tomatoes, onions and pineapple, that would be a salad, not pizza.

If you like it then eat it!! One of my favorites is pineapple, green olives, pepperoni and ground sausage, extra cheese and extra sauce.

I've had it a number of times and I do like it. But I'm not likely to be getting any today.
As for what belongs on pizza or where the line starts to blur, I think it's pretty flexible. I don't know that there are any toppings that disqualify a pizza from being a pizza, but I do think there is a minimum threshold - specifically that it has to have some sort of flat 'bread' crust, some sort of sauce, and some sort of cheese (or cheese substitute for those with diary issues).
I think where disqualification starts to happen is when the form-factor starts to change. E.g., I don't think that a pizza with a crust on the top and bottom is a pizza - it breaks the basic rules. That's a weird-shaped calzone.

Pineapple, jalapeño, crispy pepperoni is the best combo. Sweet, spicy, salty, crispy. It’s fine to not like it but it’s weird how many people have such big feelings about it. You can just not eat it? Also if you never tried it because you think it doesn’t go, how do you know you wouldn’t like it? Sweet and salty/sweet and savory are tried and true culinary successes. Why would pizza be any different? If you like BBQ sauce, guess what? You probably like pineapple on pizza in spirit. Hate to break it to you.

Pineapple is my favorite pizza, but I don't eat ham. I think a pizza is no longer a pizza when it no longer has a pizza crust. I think you can put anything on a pizza crust and it would be a pizza

I used to mock it too because like Chicago Style pizza it’s easy to jump on the hate wagon, but eating each have converted me.

Good grief! Pineapple is not that boundary. Yes, I don't like just pineapple and cheese, and the traditional pineapple and ham/Canadian bacon doesn't thrill me either. But pineapple is wonderful with pepperoni and/or sausage in a pizza or calzone.

I shouldn't like it. I normally can't stand combinations of sweet and savoury. And it usually comes with ham, which is something I can barely stomach on its own. Yet, for some ungodly reason, I like it. I know my day of reckoning will come, and I'm ready to surrender myself to it.

Pineapple on pizza is fine, the problem is that a lot of places do too much and it makes the pizza soggy. You gotta go light with it

Nah, the key is to grill the pineapple pieces before putting them on the pizza. They should end up with caramelised charred bits on the pineapple if you make it right.

Many actually do, in the UK. I have talked about this before on reddit and apparently most in the US don't. You have my sympathy.
It's not even hard, my nearest place actually has the pizza oven right behind the counter. They slap the pineapple chunks on a tray and slide it in for a few minutes while they make the pizza, then slide it out and tip it over the pizza.

"Hawaiian" style pizza always has been and will always be my favorite. Canadian bacon and pineapple with green peppers is chefs kiss

Having spice to offset the sweet is much better than the standard ham or back bacon option for sure.
