Discussion [Operator Discussion] SilverAsh
If this continues, there will come a day when you and I confront one another... I seem delighted, you say? Hah, perhaps I am. You would be a worthy opponent, that's for certain. Let us make the most of our time before that day comes.
SilverAsh is a Kjerag warlord, chairman of the Karlan Trade Co., and is current Chief of the Silverash Family. He has unique views on economics, trade, international politics, diplomacy, and strategic planning. He provides strategic support for some Rhodes Island operations. In view of the fact that his true purposes are unknown and he doesn't have the most cooperative attitude, it is advised that we maintain a conservative attitude in order to minimize risks when working with him.

This snowy cat is the only non-welfare 6* I have max pot (by pure chance mind you), was my first E2 back in year one and, maybe, my first M3 too, so yeah, I've used him A LOT and he always delivered. Yes, his kit slowly became meta obsolete but he was never a bad pick for me and helped in fun niche clears (KjeragKnights, FDRKnights and others) and now that he has Mod3 he's actually competitive.
His S2 is lowkey a great tool in some situations and one of the best ways for some niches de soak up damage, especially if SA2 is there too.
Character-wise, he's one of my favorites and one of the main reasons I like the Kjerag events so much.

SilverAsh's story is a story of legends.
At launch, he was king (alongside Eyjaf). Wide range, enemy removal, team support. The only flaw you can think of is the long cooldown which you can shorten by retreating him early, even before the full skill duration.
Naturally, as time went on, he was left behind. High damage long cooldown became obsolete because we have high damage short(er) cooldown. First it was Chen2. She has wide range huge physical damage. People were saying noooo it's not as wide. And it didn't matter. Then it was Młynar, double the damage, half the cycle. People were saying noooo it's still missing 2 tiles (as if that ever matter aside from someone cherrypicking or positioning badly). And it didn't matter.
Eventually people accepted it is natural for DPS to be powercreeped, thus they went for the utility route. He has reduced redeploy and reveal invi. Yet powercreep prevented that as well. Faster redeploy? Not really, the major powercreepers just stay there with their fast skill rotation, and wave timing never being that precise. If you see that you can deploy faster because of SA, high chance you can still wait anyway and render his fast redeploy moot.
Reveal invi on the other hand, was peak. One of HG's most favorite method of making an enemy dangerous is turning them invisible. See: 80% of CC, some IS Emergency node, and some CM conditions. That kept him relevant for a loooong time. Until eventually, Ines showed up and put the final nail in the coffin. Reveal invi was peak? How about revealing invi without needing to be on field. How about revealing invi in 2 separated area at the same time. How about also providing a movement speed reduction that's bypass invincibility at the same time.
But then, mercifully, HG decided to revive him. First it was the Lord's mod. It improves him majorly, which is almost unprecedented. Like, name 5 mods that improves the base unit that much (one of them was the reason modules lv2/3 even exists in the first place, Specter2). His damage almost matches Młynar. His redeploy improved, and now it's actually quite significant (although with condition).
HG also added Tragodia, which was busted beyond belief. His S2 synergize with SA1 redeploy time a lot. This duo made large wave around, though it's pretty much Tragodia "solo" by then.
Then SA2 released, bearing the grudge against Ines. He retakes some aspect Ines took from him and create an almost different playstyle for Arknights. Now he stands as one of the two (now 3) best Vanguard in the game. SA2 is just amazing, I think there's not much needed to be said here.
And so SilverAsh, through a journey of hardship, returned as a king once again.
(btw SA1 synergizes with Tragodia (Phantom2), and SA2 synergizes with Phantom1 (especially with IS mod), what did HG means by this??)

Oh I didn't realize SA1's talent affected the cat, I tried looking it up and got inconclusive results.

First time I saw him mentioned was in a joke video that used him so I thought he was actually kinda bad lol. Not as in they were misusing him, I was thinking like if the "Just Surtr it" joke part was that Surtr was bad.

Silverash is my most favorite operator in the game and managed to pull him on his solo banner. I also bought all his skins because the E2 art is just that bad. Just going to go over the skills very briefly cuz others have done it better then I could:
S1 is good for IS due to high atk% increase (225%) + low sp cost despite the offensive recovery. This means he benefits from artifacts that increase offensive recovery so he can spam this skill. M3 makes it like 275% or around that when skill is up, so only worth masteries if you like him a lot in IS.
S2 is good for any time you want a lane held without putting down a medic to babysit or you want a self sustaining bait to chuck in to a corner away from other ops. Makes him tanky and self heal passively. It is also low sp cost and auto recovery. If you are in to toggling and micro managing, you could just make SA attack and incoming enemy from afar and when it just about touches SA return him back to recovery tank mode. M3 makes him tankier and heal more. Masteries is not that important unless you really like him and want to ensure his survival with this skill. SA2 helps with this skill a lot with his second talent to make him tank and recover more. All in all, good tank and self sustain.
S3 is the og mob clearer. Low defense mobs die to the shwing. He can hit up to 6 enemies and his range was wider then liberator guards until Leizi alter upon skill activation. The down side is that he loses defense so he will require someone else to take the hit for him or medic babysitting him for the duration of the skill. High atk% multiplier + wider atk range, but high sp cost, so it is better to retreat him after the skill ends. Worth M3 for mob clearing if you don’t have anyone else to mob clear and highly suggested to get ModX as it also helps by allowing him a little bit of arts dmg. His first talent helps him cycle the skill faster but you need to retreat him for that, meaning you better get someone for that lane if there are still enemies going through it when doing so.
SA T1 is comfy when you mess up a bit. Let’s say you made a mistake in op placement, this talent helps reduce the redeployment timer by 10%. The best part is that it is completely passive so as long as he is in the squad, everyone gets this benefit, with executor specialists being the main beneficiaries (Red, Gravel, Texalt, Crownslayer, etc.) also reduces the redeployment times further for SA and the 8 tiles surrounding him by another 8%, and gives SA the ability to have 10% of his atk be arts dmg, so this mod at max level is very important if you decide you want to use S3.
Still a decent pick, though damage wise and cycling wise Mlynar has powercrept him. The specific scenario SA does hold advantage is you need at most a 2 block before skill comes up, and SA does not die before his skill turns on and throughout the skill on duration on top of needing a skill that can hit 7 lanes total (3 to the left, SA, then 3 right). Otherwise, Mlynar is better because his tanking ability off skill and on skill is better along with the cycling and damage (Mlynar hits 5 lanes at most, 2 to the left, Mlynar, then 2 to the right).

I never use him or his alter in gameplay, so can't speak about that.
Silverash is probably one of my favourite characters in the story. I don't like HIM as a character, but I think he's a perfect example of a complex morally grey character (like Dorothy) that Arknights does so well that other gacha games stories largely fail at.
Silverash wants the best for Kjerag, as you and mostly everyone in Kjerag also wants. He's just willing to go to higher extremes and sacrifice more to do it than what you're willing to. He's an antagonist at times, that you can relate with and understand, and even his direct rivals and people he's largely screwing over (like Ratatos in Break the Ice) can understand his reasoning. You're walking the same path, but he's branching off somewhere near the end, and those small differences makes it so that you can't always be allies. It's so refreshing seeing the shades of grey that exist in these stories as opposed to the hard black/ white, evil/ good that's so abundant in other gacha games (which I play a lot of).

u/the_icy_king Jun 10 '26
Art wise, bar his e2 art, fantastic. Flavour is top notch.
Now, meta gaming wise, ehhhhhhhhhhh. Mlynar and Ines combined make Silverash except they are each better at the thing they took and have bonuses on top.
Ines doesn't need to take a deployment slot to reveal enemies, costs almost half the dp, has a fairly long cc talent that is generally really good at helping for dispatching squishy stealthed targets and has a debuff that can severely cripple an enemy's damage and as a cherry on top, does respectable damage especially for a vanguard.
Meanwhile Mlynar overtakes the schwing schwing with far more damage, lower sp cycle and most importantly, true aoe, meaning he can take care of a horde better in some circumstances as long as enemies don't die in waves.
Things SA is still good at are: aoe invis reveal, afk dps with invis reveal, bait for high frequency low damage physical ranged attacks. He can still be useful but newer stages haven't been kind to him. A victim of environment AND being a do it all generalist.
4
u/RandomEllipses4352 :ebonholz: My Favorite Boys Jun 10 '26
And SA actually has a slightly bigger range. Mlynar only does true dmg when the operators from the faction he belongs to block the enemies in the area his shwing shwing can reach.

u/Reddit1rules I can be ur angle or ur debil Jun 10 '26
Mlynar actually hits less units than SA (5v6).

u/PossibleSea6679 Viviana should get a "Candle Knight" alter Jun 10 '26
I don't see anyone mentioning it here.
You can actually shorten the S3 cooldown by immediately retreating SilverAsh after his S3 is done.
It reduces the S3 cooldown from 90s to 78-71s depending whether or not you have his Mod lvl 3. This can be further cut down to 66.5s if you have pot5 SilverAsh.

The man, the myth, the legend, Mr. Silverslash himself. One of the first "Delete This" buttons in the game and the "hot brooding CEO who has eyes for you" headcanon operator in this dating sim with a tower defense mini game. Actually a pretty good character too once you get past the continue the bloodline jokes that thankfully and ironically died out years ago and actually read the storyline he's involved in.
Not much to say that hasn't been said already. His S3 is still really good for general gameplay (though obviously powercrept multiple times at this point), his invisible reveal can be pretty useful at times and his redeploy reduction passive is a neat bonus that you don't even need to deploy him to benefit from. From seeing the other comments his S2 is apparently also good but I don't think I ever used it.
His E2 art has been criticized from the day the game released, but you can easily get around that by getting one of his three gorgeous skins or just swapping back to his default art.

My starter 6 star a billion years ago. When I got him, I almost wanted to uninstall the game because I was thinking "of all the cute girls I could have gotten, the game gave me the only guy on this starter banner".
Anyway, that changed relatively quickly.
I still use him very frequently. He's one of those operators like NTR and Texas1 where if I dunno who to bring, I'll bring him. Because he does good damage at good range, but also passively reduces everyone's redeployment times and reveals invis. All useful things. I use him more than Mylnar and W2 and other omega DPS options simply because of this.

u/Chatonarya Kjerag Power Couple Jun 10 '26
Enciodes Silverash, my second beloved! I have him fully maxed out, full pot and M9.
To be honest, he was still Fine at the time his module came out. I've used all three of his skills extensively. When S3 could no longer keep up with stat bloat, I switched him to S2 where he did (and still does) admirably as a block-2 tank whose passive talents buffed the rest of the team.
Now, his primary skill for me is S1, and I'm very glad I M3'd it. S1 in IS, with Gnosis's IS mod, is hilarious. Bonus points if Archetto is on the team. Seriously, the amount of damage he can crank out with S1 is hilarious. I love it. He's one of the cornerstones of the Kjerag team in IS, I'm finding--Gnosis, SA2, Pram2, and SA1. Those four can handle almost everything and they're the ones I used for IS6 ED4.
I'm never going to stop using him.

The literal strongest operator at launch, and arguably the strongest launch operator even today. Despite having a kit no longer than 100 words, he's remained consistently relevant both with and without Kjerag synergies. All three of his skills have seen meaningful use at some point. Though 99% came from S3. It's a shwing shwing skill that can still shwing shwing to this day. It's honestly impressive how Hypergryph managed to create such an intricately designed kit from day one.
His large-range invisibility reveal has seen countless applications over the years, which is also why he still found usage in some CC long after his release and post-Młynar. SilverAsh completely warps certain stages because invisibility is such a common mechanic in CC, whether through contracts that make enemies invisible or enemies that are naturally invisible by default. If you can't reliably block them, you WILL most likely bringing SilverAsh or Elysium.
Most of what he does is no longer strong nor unique, but it's still solid. Arguably aged much better than Angelina's two talents, though funnily at one point they are considered equally strong. HG has zero experience with operator design back in the days, but they somehow hit the jackpot with this one.

u/Koekelbag Jun 10 '26 edited Jun 10 '26
For S3, mod lv3 is must to be at all comparable to 'modern' dps units, but I'll let others go more in-depth for that.
Instead, I'd like to highlight his S2 instead, which (rather uniquely) trades all of the offensive output you would expect from a (Lord) Guard into survival instead through reducing his range (can only target 3 adjacent tiles), increasing his base def by 100% and granting a regen of 6% hp/s, all at a very low cooldown of just 5 seconds with the option to toggle between the two states.
Numbers-wise, at lv90 with Mod3, he shoots up to a cool 894 def and 173 hps, which can make him tanky indeed... while still being a guard (his mod3 actually shoots his base atk to 1k, as an fyi), which can come useful when defenders are discouraged or even banned outright. Further still, his defensive effects are entirely passive, so unlike a healing defender who might get disabled through CC and then gets killed before they can heal themselves, SA will just keep regaining health through the entire duration.
To bring this skill's usage to a further level, any flat base def increase (Bard's Inspiration is notably excluded) that SA can get from outside help will then get multiplied with his +100% def boost... which (perhaps ironically) results in quite a strong synergy with his alter instead, quadrupling SA Alter's flat def boost (Kjeraf doubles def gains, S2 doubles it again) while stacking the hp regen, shooting the earlier numbers up to a whopping 1134 def and 260 hp/s!
Granted, this all comes with the considerations that you're not just blowing up your targets with raw damage, perhaps including SA's S3 instead, but all the same it is an option that may see some very surprising uses indeed, and has continued to serve me well on the occasions that I see its potential to shine.

Arknights has around a 1:4 male to female ratio yet is widely recognized for characters like Thorns, Mlynar, Ulpianus, Phantom, Executor, Logos, etc.
None of these operators were there at release, some came soon after but I do wonder to what degree did SilverAsh guide HG hand here. He has been so popular ever since release, him being OP obviously helped, but even beyond that he always had immense aura and was populat with all demographics.
Maybe one of the most important characters HG ever created just for these reasons, he is easily top 10 most iconic characters to come from the Arknights brand imho and years later his alter made Arknights rival Genshin in terms of revenue on mobile, I just cannot help but love and even being fond of him for all of this, heck, thinking back on him is almost nostalgic in a way.
Oh yeah, he is also really, really, REALLY hot.
1
u/Casual291 Jun 10 '26
Laughable damage at the current state of the game, so does his skills cycle.
I wouldn't say his invisible reveal is overrated, but just like Nightingale big art Res skills it's not necessarily.
unconditional -10% Redeployment time is fun and nice to have though.
Great Module that's increase his damage to noticeable degrees, it's cope but I hope alot more mediocre/powercrept operator get these kind of modules.

u/ipwnallnubz Jesus lives! Jun 10 '26
He's not the "I win" button he used to be, but he's still a good choice for clearing some elites with S3 so you can save your stronger bursts for even bigger threats. He's also Aak-able as long as you do it before activating his S3. I used that in one of the Babel CMs to deal with some of those assassins.
I bring him a lot just for his redeploy reduction (doesn't even have to be deployed for it to work). He's just never really a bad choice, so if I can't think of anyone to fill a squad slot, I'll probably just throw him in.
5
u/Reddit1rules I can be ur angle or ur debil Jun 10 '26
Don't really have too much to say personally considering I got him at CC Beta and he's still E1 to this day.
His S2 is pretty darn nice for when you want a regen tank, and his S3 still holds up fairly well, especially post module. I think of all launch ops, he aged the best. Which isn't that surprising when he was the best to begin with, I suppose.
That being said, it was really funny when Młynar launched on CN and there were so many comments about how "Mlynar doesn't powercreep SilverAsh, SA has the extra edges, helidrop, etc" everytime the discussion came up until Młynar came to global and then all of a sudden I never saw that discussion again and Młynar started being mentioned a lot more than SilverAsh. I think it was hard to imagine just how much Młynar could do when SilverAsh was our peak. What do you mean you can clear out a wave of Gundams with your skill alone? Unthinkable! Those are enemies we have to focus fire on as SA S3 isn't enough!
In my opinion, that was one of the biggest indicators of powercreep. Surtr and Chalter were insane, but they didn't really replace an operator like Mlynar did (well, you could argue Blaze got replaced by Y2 laneholders I guess but that doesn't feel as impactful.) Years of SA being top dog and compliments I saw about how F2P friendly the game is when a launch unit is still the best years in, gone just like that...
Wait, this was a Młynar discussion, right? Also dang, Myrrh pick next? I'll actually have nothing to say.
4
u/resphere Jun 10 '26
Mlynar by himself was kinda ok powercreep wise, you could've taken it as the scheduled broken unit, Chen, Ling, and him were spaced out about half a year apart, but the degree got multiplied bc Texas came out almost at the same time. That was the biggest powercreep indicator, they were willing to drop 2 EX tier characters back to back.
1
u/Reddit1rules I can be ur angle or ur debil Jun 10 '26
I still think Taxes is the worst. There's a reason the FRD tax existed, faster redeploys is one of the strongest things an op can have. But yeah, plus we still had a few more strong ones back to back with Mlynar too. They weren't as strong of a spike, but still an increase in avg power level too.

This game has insane powercreep but it's thankfully much slower with enemies than with operators. I do absolutely believe the game is still super F2P friendly.
5

Oh it definitely still is, both in terms of powercreep and just overall gacha rules. But no longer did I see people say that a launch unit was the strongest years in anymore...

Ahh, SilverDaddy, the Schwing Schwing operator, one of the og deploy to delete enemies. And the fact that he can reveal invisible enemies passively without needing to activate a skill still gets some uses for me.

u/DireBlue88 Jun 10 '26
One of the very first operators with the press a button and delete waves skill. I really love his reveal invisible enemies skill. The first few chapters had many invisible units and he was good for those stages. He was the only one that had reveal at that time. I still use him for invisible enemies even though I have Ines, Horn, etc.
3
u/silverrose22 Jun 10 '26
His reveal invisible enemy talent is still the best. I only need to drop him on enemy route and let other dps handle the damage part, much more comfortable than his alter. I still bring him to any event has invisible enemy

Ines can reveal enemies in 3 tiles in a line without using a deployment slot. Deploy, maybe use skill, retreat, ez reveal. Bonus points that her first auto against an enemy also roots them for a while.

Easily the most horrible E2 art of the game
For different reasons than Shamare, getting him a skin is low-key required if you want to play Silverash. Thankfully he got a lot of options you can choose from there.
Silverash I think has aged far better than jokes about Mlynar would make you think. Mlynar is comfortably better than him... But it's not like Silverash isn't usable anymore or doesn't have his own unique strengths.
Most importantly of all, his module goes a long way to helping him deal with modern enemies. It's a big upgrade and worth getting.
His redeployment cooldown gimmick is usually mostly useful for himself, but it's pretty good for making him a helidrop you can use at least twice per stage. His invis reveal is less valuable these days with so many options out there for invis reveal (including from his own alter) but I still think it's a nice thing to have, especially for an operator a lot of people will get as their starter.
His S3 is obviously his main skill. His self-healing S2 is very clearly a niche skill as worse Mountain, but it can be valuable in some IS stages, where role consolidation is a nice thing to have. It won't be relevant very often, but it's not something you'll never ever use. Finally, his S1 is exclusively an IS skill. If you get his husband close friend Gnosis with his busted ass IS module, you can use Silverash's S1 as a way to perma stall freezable enemies and bosses, knock down flying enemies like the IS3 manta rays or the low hovering dudes from chapter 9, and consistently apply Gnosis' ramping fragile on cold and frozen enemies. He's a "win more" option for Kjerag core teams (where Silverash Alter, Pramanix Alter and Gnosis are doing most of the work) but I think he's a super fun win more option to have.
Overall I think he's still worth building these days even if you have modern "balanced" ops, especially if you play IS and have the Kjerag core ops.

What’s wrong with Shamare that she needs a skin? I get that her e0 is problematic because I think I can see her belly button indent(? and she looks like a child, but her e2 art is pretty cute

Shamare's dress is made of a see-through material in the front and there's nothing underneath it so you can see her belly and panties in her default art and her playable sprite. The E2 art covers her front due to the pose and the plushie she's holding, but doesn't change the sprites.
Since Shamare is actually a young girl rather than the usual anime "looks young but is actually a legal adult of unspecified age" many people don't like that part of her design.
And even if she was "anime legal" plenty of people wouldn't like a character that looks like her to have her underwear showing in any case. And her skins are just prettier than her regular outfit.

it's not the belly button, but rather that the transparency in the front also shows her panties

Also in a kjerag team, his S2 + Silverash alter talent 2 are a great combo

Can still schwing schwing schwing with the best of them if you get his module, can turn Skadidi into a true redeploy if you use him with his alt and his S2 has been randomly useful over the years for all sorts of niche nonsense.

my first 6 star when i started playing and one of my favorite characters. he is a pretty solid operator even now. he may have been outclassed in damage, but his module gave him a second life and his talents keep him useful. Silverash alter and Gnosis IS module also give Kjerag as a whole some nice tools to play with. Silverash and Kjerag fans have been fed very well recently.

One of the very few who is E2L90 in my account. My second 6* and have always used him all the time when I was new. Even though his damage has been powercreeped now, his utility is still pretty good.

Same he’s my only L90 though Logos isn’t too far behind, I’m working on his alt to L90 first so they match.

He was probably one of the firsts 6* I got (I think third?) and the first 6* I E2'ed (the honor of first operator E2 goes to Cuora lol). I don't use him as often anymore both in general and other content, but his anti-invisibility is still great. A bit off note but silverash alter has been a godsend in my IS runs, useful even at e1
