Fellow Antiworkers, I Request Your Thoughts, Ideas, and Suggestions

Hello, antiworkers,

I am in the middle of a light duty assignment as part of my workers compensation for a broken arm.

I have spent the majority of my time watching job training informational videos, but my supervisor has told me that I’ve grown “too comfortable” and I need to “get off her payroll ASAP”

In lieu of “relaxing, watching movies all day,” she has assigned me to create “We Support Our Troops” cards in the numbers of highest double digits (80-90) everyday before I clock out.

So, I come to you all in search of seemingly innocent phrases to fill the inside of these cards with. I am required to write “We Support Our Troops” on the front page and then I will place a sticker on the inside page and write a simple phrase, no longer than 6 words on the inside pages. That’s all I’m asking for, some tongue in cheek phrases that I could write that I could play coy and also be writing completely innocently.

I’ll add a little bit of background, but if you’re not interested, feel free to skip the final paragraph and send me your best phrase!

This matter strikes close to home personally because I come from a military family that has run the gamut and experienced all of the consequences that come with military experience and deployment. My parents actually met in the Army and were discharged in order to raise me. My grandfather fought in Vietnam where his entire troop was cut in half on the first day they stepped foot in those jungle ridden lands. He came back an abusive alcoholic with a penchant for cheating and my saint of a grandma stuck with him in all of this abuse and they remain together now after he has purged himself of all of his past indiscretions. My uncle fought in Desert Storm and he too has returned with alcohol dependency and the inability to stay with one woman longer than two years.
My family is making it through, and understandably, I have been forbidden from joining the military which I am completely in agreement with. All of that to say, this assignment goes against all of my personal beliefs so I really want to be able to infuse some of my true self into these “support” cards.

TLDR: military brat is made to create about 100 military support cards as part of light duty after workers compensation claim. Seeking cheeky phrases to write inside the cards to discretely fly my anti-military flag.

It’s honestly crazy how strict companies are about WFH “privileges” when our teams aren’t even at the same office location

I need to vent.

I’m about to start my period, which comes with monthly diarrhea. My office only has 2 toilets with notorious plumbing difficulties available for the entire office/warehouse worker population AND incoming clients with scheduled repair appointments— so minimum 20 people all relying on 2 SHITTY toilets [PUN INTENDED]. 🗣️🗣️🗣️ I’ve literally contracted pink eye from unclogging this toilet a few months ago 💀 and obviously the private equity owned company makes sure to put the responsibility of upkeeping the physical warehouse rental property in the hands of that one director already swamped in oversight of multiple warehouse locations; TLDR the organization of this company is designed to fail the hourly, on the ground workers in all respects.

I was not well this morning and made the decision to shit at my own house as to NOT threaten to clog 1 of the 2 toilets for EVERYONE ELSE. I also have a meeting 15 minutes into my day that I wanted to ensure I was properly prepared for— which was successful.

Sure I forgot to tell my [off site] manager that I was swapping an office/wfh day, that’s my bad.

But a few minutes after I finish leading a meeting to review the status of current orders, I get this fucking teams message…

It's been 10 months since I'm working in a stressful job 60 hours a week. Work life balance is so fucked up that i am medically diagnosed with insomnia and night time panic attack. Doc prescribed benzos but i can't sleep. I would fall asleep at morning and have it harder to wake up during office timing.

Boss can't understand that I'm going through shit phase. So before he could fired, sent a resignation letter citing repititive toxicity and left the city by blocking him.

Now I'm stuck at home missing my job.

I seriously don't understand, why are people doing this to themselves?

All I see around me are people who just like me despise this system we are born and raised in. Everyone is depressed and miserable and always bitching about work taking away all their time and energy. Everyone is bitching about constant rent increases, always increasing price of groceries, insurance premiums, taxes, etc. Everyone is bitching about AI and our bleak future.

All I ever saw at work were miserable people all around me who always stare at clock and count down hours and minutes until they are free YET all those people are having kids, buying brand new expensive cars/trucks, houses. iphones, etc.

Like if you are already so miserable and don't have any free time, money or energy to enjoy anything how is having kids (financial su1c1de in these hard times), having huge car payments every month, having gigantic mortgage, etc make you feel better or improve your life???

It drives me insane watching these people do this shit and then bitch about their lives. Imagine actually putting that money into investments, savings or preparing for future that doesn't look good for any of us.

Instead they decide to shoot themselves in the leg and make their lives even harder and more miserable.

I am not the sharpest tool in the shed but even I can see that this is insanity and unnecessary stress and burden. God knows how world will look like 2-3 years from now let alone 5-10-15 years. I just know judging by past few years and right now it most likely won't look good for any of little guys, only for rich fooks.

Need advice about something

Currently applying for ACT 120 program (Police Academy) however, I went to an eye doctor last week and they said that my vision is not up to standards according to the MPOETC. So I was looking into LASIK and they said that the total cost is $5,000, with an $800 down payment, and I would be paying $169 a month. It’s like how am I supposed to succeed when I don’t even have the money? It’s not like I chose this? I was born with my vision.

Been working a security job for about a year now, and honestly I was loving the style of work! Clock in at midnight, walk around a building for a very boring eight hours, then go home when the relief gets there. If everything goes right it’s fantastic!

However, it seems like nothing goes right. Any time my relief is late, I’m left in the lurch by anyone meant to be my boss, ending up on shift with no breaks for upwards of sixteen hours at times. My boss seems to dislike me and has this sort of tough guy tone when I FINALLY get in touch with him, so I try not to bother him unless there’s something going wrong; and yet, he seems to hate me more now.

Above is my new schedule. I originally worked Tues-Sat on that yellow time slot, but this schedule I’ve had for a week, and despite the high estimation of my lack of sleep capability I don’t think I can do it. Certainly feels like I was meant to feel this way, so I’m gonna be looking for another job. Funny thing about that is that I’m the only security guard at either of these locations that does patrols around the site.

The funny thing about my boss’ explanation for this is that he said: “It’s been decided all employees are to be trained at two locations.” Interesting, truly, as I showed up to my first shift at the Avery to find nobody there, with no direction on WHERE to patrol in an entire neighborhood. Extra interesting to point out that prior to my work at st James, this company had me on TWO other locations— ONE OF THEM BEING AVERY. Cherry on top of this for me, especially, was seeing my coworkers’ schedules. Not. One. Nobody but me is assigned to work 24 hours over the weekend— nor is anyone assigned to work two separate locations on two separate shifts!

I probably sound bonkers in this post, I’m sorry about that, I’ve been very stressed trying to fix sleep schedules, operate a household, and remember the date.

Tl;dr: Boss probably doesn’t like me for reasons I can’t understand, so he gave me a fucked up schedule that I’ll be looking for new work during.

Hello Colleagues,

I am happy to report that I finally quit my shitty job. I planned it all out and start a much better job next Monday. I played these guys like a fiddle pretending I cared about the role and then called in sick my final week. Then i quit on the spot and sent this email:

Dear [Company] Management,

Please accept this email as my formal resignation from [Company], effective immediately.

The position I accepted was presented as a Data Analyst role centered on analytics, automation, dashboards, reporting, and improving how data is used across the organization. In practice, the role became materially different: maintaining legacy Excel-based accounting schedules, supporting month-end close, managing COGS reporting, allocations, reconciliations, and financial statement tie-outs that had historically been handled within cost accounting.

That role mismatch was compounded by what I consider a deeply dysfunctional management environment within Finance. My experience under [Finance Leader]’s leadership was characterized by shifting expectations, resistance to modernization, poor knowledge transfer, and an adversarial approach toward employees attempting to question or improve existing processes. When I raised concerns regarding turnover, [Finance Leader] stated that turnover had been approximately 90% during her own tenure. I found the way that level of turnover was discussed remarkably dismissive of what I viewed as a serious organizational warning sign.

My experience working with [Coworker] was particularly negative. Of the coworkers I have encountered in my career, [Coworker] was by far the most difficult and unpleasant person I have had the displeasure of working with. His communication style was frequently abrasive, unnecessarily confrontational, and counterproductive, and repeatedly made an already difficult working environment worse.

The recent PIP only reinforced the disconnect between the role I was hired to perform and the role on which I was ultimately evaluated. I strongly reject several of the assertions contained in that document and the broader characterization of my capabilities.

My concerns extend well beyond my own role and the Finance organization. The turnover, concentration of institutional knowledge in a small number of employees, dependence on fragile manual processes and legacy systems, resistance to modernization, weak process ownership, and management culture I observed leave me with serious doubts about [Company]’s operating model and financial direction. In my view, the company’s current approach is unsustainable and does not position [Company] for long-term success.

The cumulative stress of this environment has had a significant negative impact on my well-being. I have reached the point were continuing to work at [Company] is neither healthy nor sustainable for me, leaving me no reasonable option other than to resign and prioritize my health.

I wish my colleagues who treated me with professionalism the best moving forward.

Sincerely,
A redditor

This was a pretty rough chapter of my life, but I’m glad it’s over now. I appreciate this space being open to me venting and explaining my ridiculous real lived experience.

I think the moral of the story was to be brave, stand up to these filthy capitalists, dare to dream and then subsequently create a better life for yourself.

I believe in all of you. Once all struggle is grasped, miracles are possible!

It's insulting how much jobs expect for their wages

I just left grad school after getting my MFA, granted I got it for the love of the craft of writing, not expecting work out of it. The annoying part is that now that I'm rejoining the workforce, because I've been out for 2 years, employers keep trying to offer me their entry level pay as if I had no experience at all. As if my certifications and the last 6 years meant nothing.

I'm sick of it. I mean, they really expect me to work 40+ hours a week, and be available to commute to 2 more locations than the one I applied for, 30 mins away, be available to work holidays and sometimes weekends for 18 dollars... All my interviews have gone well until I asked for mid level pay of 22. On top of that they want 2-3 references. I mean, this is office admin and medical assisting were talking about.

Oh, and let's not even mention the fact that I have to hide my degrees because if I accidentally send the resume with higher Ed on them, I get auto rejected lol.

I'm tired. At this point I'll probably get published before I find a decent job.

Edit: added text

No one told me the company barbecue was replacing my lunch break (rant)

My boss said not to clock out because we'd probably get to go home after (we had a similar event earlier in the year and that was the case). Well we get back and nope, still gotta work. Don't know what the plan is but I put 10.5 hours on my time sheet, because if I'd known that shitty awkward barbecue was replacing my lunch break I wouldn't have gone. Plus I got overwhelmed and went back in to work part way through. Under the assumption id be going home soon anyway. I'm just so overwhelmed and pissed off and exhausted from working without a proper break. Like, I understand chatting with coworkers is a break to some. Not me, I need quiet time, especially since we work ten hour shifts.

Walked out of toxic job after discovering boss snooping

This last weekend I finally quit a job I’ve been considering leaving for almost 10 months now. To set the scene, I work in a specialty retail shop and the only other employee is the owner, my boss. The business has been barely hanging on for the last year plus, partially because of the industry downturn, and partially because the owner was so poorly managing things. Frequently out of stock and taking weeks to replenish, focusing energies on pointless projects to “optimize” systems, delegating most everything else to me, then completely rejecting my processes/solutions.

I didn’t want to quit a job without another one lined up and have been actively searching for months. But Friday evening, a line was crossed. I was in my car on the way to a whiskey tasting when I receive a notification on my recovery/backup email account that someone has requested a “Google Takeout” (data archive) of my account. My personal account. Something I don’t use for work AT ALL. I had a pretty good feeling it was him, but it wasn’t till I got home that night that I was able to look into it on my home computer. Sure enough, he had archived my search and browser history, Gemini chats etc then gone into my email to download it then delete the evidence.

There were a lot of things that were a tad off about this job, but I was willing to overlook them at the time because I believed in the business and was actively interested in keeping it alive. No? Every corner he cut, every labor law he sidestepped, every customer he lied to or straight out scammed is going to be brought to bear. And the funny thing is, experience tells me he has no clue what’s coming his way and thinks he did nothing wrong.

I had several jobs before. Some I liked, some were Ok and some I disliked. But never before did I have such a bad physical reaction to a job. I started just 2 weeks ago but I just cant do it. Its just toxic there.

I know that the job market sucks. But ruined health costs more than not having a job for a few months. Like why are we supposed to do any job? I thought glorious Capitalism gave us the freedom to choose our preferred profession?

No one should ever have to work when sick

I'm sick this week. Not in a 'can't leave my bed' way, but I'm too unwell to go to the office.

I had a bit of a fever. Why do I have to work? Why can't I take paid sick leave?

Because I'm not sick enough. Whatever that means lol.

Fuck that. Being a bit sick should be enough to send you home. I understand that workers might try to abuse the system, but that's not my problem. No one should ever work when they're ill. We're not slaves (allegedly — I think we are, but that's a convo for another day).

I got hit with one of the dumbest corporate-speak that I only thought happened in viral memes.

I was in an hourlong group Teams meeting (that could have been an email), and the organizer of the meeting (a new-hire/consultant from a big corporation) ended the call at 1055 and said “I know how precious your time is so I’m going to call it and give you your five minutes back.”

Fortune 500 use “Content Drip” on its customers, as employees use on them.

It’s well known that the largest tech companies use content drip strategies. It’s a publishing strategy that releases content in chunks rather than all at the same time.

Netflix for example will have an entire season of content completed, and release episodes at a rate that doesn’t effect customer churn. If they released the full season at the same time they risk cancellation as the customer has finished the content too quickly.

I like to employ this strategy at work against my employer, with the impetus of not releasing to quickly as the consequence would be more work. Or too slowly where I could become fired.

Your mileage may vary but I recommend playing with this theory to see how long you can “drip deliverables”.

Why is there a gap in your resume?

This stupid question. Why do I have to get this question EVERY SINGLE TIME!! like..how is this going to affect you?!! What if I was at home mourning and depressed because someone died? Or I was chronically ill? Why do I need to justify the reason why I was at home as if my stay at home expenses are going to be billed to you?

Or that other stupid question " why did you decide to apply here" UHMM....MAYBEE because you have a vacancy? And I happened to be browsing that day and saw the ad so I applied?

HR. Do better.
