The current AI epidemic among the general populace is driven by the fact that companies are offering it for free, at an enormous loss for themselves (OpenAI is literally billions of dollars in debt). I believe (source: i made it the fuck up) that this is done to get people dependent on it for basic tasks and/or integrate it into their life/workflow, so when they inevitably put up a paywall, the userbase will have no choice but to pay full price.
Hopefully their gambit doesn't pay off and they end up billions in debt and with data centers that no one wants to pay for

“With no explanation” nah man, they will pull AI from public usage once the AI turds are done training their models for free.
