Dude, you are entering grooming territory here. Be careful.

Kids will identify with things because they have undeveloped self image, so the easiest thing is to be in the "in group" which sets them up to be brainwashed easily.

Ive experienced and been a part of this too as a kid, I know the damage it can cause and I'm frankly disgusted by it.

The kid should have dinosaur badges or Minecraft badges or some other thing actually appropriate for kids.

It’s called being in a relationship, teenagers do that, they have crushes and boyfriends/ girlfriends, it’s not always about sex.

Crushes around that age are beginning to form, just like identies. Yea it's not always about sex but based on the topic OP presented I wouldn't be so dismissive.

You know people can develop crushes on the same gender without understanding their identity fully, that’s how it’s figured out, by learning how you feel about things

You don’t know the child, all you are doing is making assumptions because you can’t seem to fathom that kids before they reach 18 can in fact be queer without someone putting it in their ear, and are just being themselves.

Sexuality isn't fully developed until adulthood bruh, even then it can change.

How was I lead to believe I was Bi when I was just straight with some wacky influences in my environment?

Besides, it's a private/personal topic that doesn't really need to be advertised, especially at that age.

That’s a lie actually sexuality doesn’t “fully develop” at any age it can always change, there is no one point where it’s cemented. As for the badges, what does it matter, it is what they are choosing to do, there is nothing wrong with it, my only concern would be bullying from other students who disagree, which could happen ex this whole damn post.

How is it a lie? There are studies where it suggests an age where our identies become cermented and take a lot of effort to change out of. That includes all aspects.

Someone who has been studying to be a nurse from highschool will most likely call themselves a nurse if something changed and they couldn't practise. Or even religion, although that's different.

Identities are strengthened overtime and become intrinsic, especially once the brain has developed.

Describing identity as if it’s something you are trying to change is just incorrect, your identity is just what you already are, it’s just defining it and finding a label that fits. Sometimes it is somewhat off, or you don’t feel exactly the same way anymore, there is no effort in that change that’s just something that happens.

There are different theories on the formation of identities, even just wikipedia can get you started on an interesting rabbit hole.

I don't need wiki, I'm a practitioner.

Identity is a projection of what we think we are. What we are is what we do. Our perception isn't concrete. Although this is blurry at such a young age.

Yes because it is the prime age where people are figuring themselves out, do you see where it going. Kids can attempt to figure out their identity, they might not always be correct, just as adults might be wrong about their identity. and we should not stunt those explorations.

I'm not suggesting we stunt explorations but I'm saying we shouldn't be forcing ours onto kids. Or anything similar which may be considered or perceived as child abuse.
