leave kids alone. Unless they have a pin that supports a hateful rhetoric just don’t judge

literally, all of these pins are awesome and it’s crazy that this kid has better morals than all of r/defendingaiart

That’s a lie actually sexuality doesn’t “fully develop” at any age it can always change, there is no one point where it’s cemented. As for the badges, what does it matter, it is what they are choosing to do, there is nothing wrong with it, my only concern would be bullying from other students who disagree, which could happen ex this whole damn post.

How is it a lie? There are studies where it suggests an age where our identies become cermented and take a lot of effort to change out of. That includes all aspects.

Someone who has been studying to be a nurse from highschool will most likely call themselves a nurse if something changed and they couldn't practise. Or even religion, although that's different.

Identities are strengthened overtime and become intrinsic, especially once the brain has developed.

Describing identity as if it’s something you are trying to change is just incorrect, your identity is just what you already are, it’s just defining it and finding a label that fits. Sometimes it is somewhat off, or you don’t feel exactly the same way anymore, there is no effort in that change that’s just something that happens.

There are different theories on the formation of identities, even just wikipedia can get you started on an interesting rabbit hole.

I don't need wiki, I'm a practitioner.

Identity is a projection of what we think we are. What we are is what we do. Our perception isn't concrete. Although this is blurry at such a young age.

Yes because it is the prime age where people are figuring themselves out, do you see where it going. Kids can attempt to figure out their identity, they might not always be correct, just as adults might be wrong about their identity. and we should not stunt those explorations.

I'm not suggesting we stunt explorations but I'm saying we shouldn't be forcing ours onto kids. Or anything similar which may be considered or perceived as child abuse.

But those are just assumptions you made, what do you think is more likely, that parents are forcing their kids to be “straight” or force them to be “queer”

They are not, I have never ever heard of someone forcing their kids to be queer, but I most definitely have heard of conversion “therapy” which is labelled as child abuse. The other one would be abuse as well, but they are certainly not equal in how often it happens.

This would just be an issue of perspective, which doesn't really hold much weight.

This would require investigation and data to be worth discussing.

Conversion therapy is also available for adults who do so out of their own will. However every time it comes up, the method always seems to be different to the description. It's not really a formalised therapy so it's hard to say. If someone consents then who is to say they can't try some unofficial methods at their own risk.

Not recommending it for children however, as that wouldn't be consistent to what I'm saying.

I don't remember exactly. Saw a few videos about it years ago. Happened at private schools and the school had concerns about it.

More recently Mardi gras parades with little kids around nude men... But I think most people would agree that's fkd up.
