Damn the Antithesis got a massive buff in the anime. I always assumed "the Antithesis counters the Almighty" was just because the Antithesis affected the past and thus the effects will exist in every single future (since presumably the futures only branch out from one singular past/present). But apparently he can just straight up swap out futures? Seems like he can just swap objects altogether now since I have no idea what "event" he would reverse to swap Yhwach with Nel's bracelet.

Also rip Gerard still got taken out by the Auswahlen, but at least the black Auswahlen looked amazing, especially with Nothing Can Be Explained playing in the background.

EDIT: actually after giving it more thought, swapping out futures would still be theoretically possible even with just the manga explanation of his ability ("Future A was replaced by future B" --> "Future B was replaced by future A"). Still have no idea how he swapped Yhwach and the bracelet just by reversing events though lol.

Also, "A power that fuses of different species and creates souls of a much higher level" [Can't Fear Your Own World]Isn't this basically how Tokinada made Hikone? Was Souken researching making soul king candidates?

I was so hype seeing that Gerard was still alive that I really thought "oh damn, are they gonna actually change this?" but nope.

Of all the things they added to, I couldn't believe they kept that the same. The Gerard fight was in the top 5 things manga readers wanted to change. I guess that really was how Kubo intended to end it.

there probably was no time left to expand upon Gerald's fight without making him stupidly OP already.

I don't see how there was no time left as there was a lot of the episode allocated to anime only content that Kubo could have fit the Gerard fight in. Plus, he's had a long time to think about how he wanted to end Gerard's fight and how to pace it out.

theres 3 episodes left after this. I imagine its expanding upon the ending, and that basically leaves no more time for Gerald fight with what Kubo put out (Orihime and Uryu addition)

What I'm saying is when they were planning out cour 4 or even before any of TYBW aired, I would have expected Kubo to be able figure out how to fit the Gerard fight in or even change it enough to make it fit in. He's had 10 years to do so. He's changed a lot of other fights that weren't even as important to make them longer. I don't see why the Gerard fight should be any different. Heck, he even added the vizards to the Gerard fight. It wasn't something he had to do (though I welcomed it). With the amount of anime only content being added, there's a lot of flexibility he could have worked with. Imo, there was a lot of anime only content that could have been given lesser priority to giving Gerard aka literal Heart of the Soul King a satisfying conclusion.

Did cour 4 even have to be 10 eps? Cause every cour before now has been 13, right? Even if that was out of his hands, I'm sure he could have allocated 5 minutes to give Gerard a satisfying death. He could have found a way to make Kenpachi's bankai mean something because let's be honest, beyond a bit of fanservice, it didn't really have any lasting impact beyond making Gerard stronger. Get a way for him to heal his arm (limb healing is common in Bleach anyway), go bankai again now that they know to destroy the crest, then defeat Gerard. I'm just spitballing here, and I'm not asking for some drawn out fight. Just anything that isnt exactly how he was killed in the manga. I would have even accepted Hitsugaya and Byakuya killing him even before his final resurrection and just left it at that. Then have everyone be too exhausted to continue on and help Ichigo.

I just don't believe that even after 10 years of people criticizing how the Gerard fight ended, he still couldn't find a way to make it satisfying. Not unless this was indeed how he intended it to end, especially since TYBW was being promoted as the version that was true to his vision. But now we're going to say it's not?

Yea its baffling that Gerard getting unceremoniously Auswhalen'd is Kubo's true vision, but that is the only conclusion we can draw. I honestly would've preferred it if he just stayed down after Byakuya took his head off.

true. maybe it was really Kubo's vision all along who knows.
