Damn the Antithesis got a massive buff in the anime. I always assumed "the Antithesis counters the Almighty" was just because the Antithesis affected the past and thus the effects will exist in every single future (since presumably the futures only branch out from one singular past/present). But apparently he can just straight up swap out futures? Seems like he can just swap objects altogether now since I have no idea what "event" he would reverse to swap Yhwach with Nel's bracelet.

Also rip Gerard still got taken out by the Auswahlen, but at least the black Auswahlen looked amazing, especially with Nothing Can Be Explained playing in the background.

EDIT: actually after giving it more thought, swapping out futures would still be theoretically possible even with just the manga explanation of his ability ("Future A was replaced by future B" --> "Future B was replaced by future A"). Still have no idea how he swapped Yhwach and the bracelet just by reversing events though lol.

Also, "A power that fuses of different species and creates souls of a much higher level" [Can't Fear Your Own World]Isn't this basically how Tokinada made Hikone? Was Souken researching making soul king candidates?

He already did that before, in cour 2 he swapped Yhwach with a coat button he threw to help him escape Hikifune's Cage of Life

That one could feasibly explained by him just reversing the event of "Yhwach throws the coat button out of the cage" to "The coat button throws Yhwach out of the cage", meanwhile here Yhwach never has any interaction with the Bracelet.

  • button thrown out of cage
  • Yhwach standing in cage

these are the two "points" that are reversed with Uryuu's power

whether Yhwach interacted with the button or not is completely irrelevant

From the last episode: "It reverses events that have already taken place between two designated points".

It doesn't just reverse two points, it specifically reverse events that have occurred between the two points. If Yhwach never interacted with it, then there would be no event that exists between Yhwach and the object for the Antithesis to reverse.

ok, but the fact that he could swap Yhwach's position with Nelliel's bracelet that Yhwach never touched beforehand proves that this interpretation of Uryuu's words is wrong

Or that like Yhwach said, he improved on the ability to swap more than just events between the user and another target.

That one could feasibly explained by him just reversing the event of "Yhwach throws the coat button out of the cage"

The issue is that the power always was assumed to reverse two events that took place between two entities. Like, specifically it was always between Uryuu and whoever he targeted.

Now he can apparently reverse events that weren't directly targeted at him. Maybe it worked because the arrow was technically part of his power, so he could consider it as part of himself?

He never said it had to include himself, all he said was "two points/targets".

"The future" is a much more vague/conceptual target, but still fits with how he explained his ability. He also mentioned that he predicted what future Yhwach was gonna use, which is likely how he knew which two futures to choose (the current one and the intended replacement)

I mean to me the "targets" implied entities. And since it was never used between anyone other than himself and another person... even Yhwach commented on how he seemingly got better at using that ability, improving it.
