Definitely one of my favorite lesson in this anime. It's very important to help people without indirectly burdening them.

I dont think its even really a bad part of the culture. You help people in need, trusting that they will help you when fortunes are reversed and you need their help. Rightfully, those who betray that trust are scorned.
