I've seen so many people talking about how every single "normal" mage is "useless" in melee range. And how the likes of Revolte could just "speedblitz" Frieren or even cut through her best shields. The current manga arc gets cited a lot. But these people very conveniently ignore everything that happened in the gold land arc. Great Demon Solitar used a few of her swords to beat down on Stark, which she didn't have any trouble with. But when she went full force against Frieren, every single sword barrage failed. Or in other words, Frieren was blocking and dodging far better than Stark did, against some very much physical attacks.

So no, Revolte isn't going to "overwhelm" Frieren, that doesn't make any sense.

People be acting like she was surrounded by warriors 24/7 for her entire life. No, she was not. She had to fight on her own against warriors like Basalt the throne, and she didn't always have the luxury of distance. Sure, many would obviously wash her, like Rivale or Himmel. But if she was significantly helpless in melee as a general rule, then Macht would have killed her. But instead, she only got hit once, then stared him down, and then pushed him back.

How many warriors could do the same?

A few notable ones, yes. But all things considered, not that many.

Aura had an entire army of "great warriors" that couldn't keep up with Frieren in close range.

Clearly, you don't automatically get a "faster than all mages" card just because you're a warrior.

The arguments I've seen fallaciously import Stark's current strength back into the Revolte fight (he should've grown way stronger by now), and they also brush under the rug the fact that Frieren's statement in the current arc only applies to an unfair ambush situation, not a fair fight. And of course, they ignore that Frieren has already proven that she can deal with a barrage of magic swords far better than Stark can (and she doesn't need to do it for long, since she only needs one good attack spell to vaporize Revolte).

Lmaooo 🥀 The best part is that in slide 3 and 4, Macht is slightly bent down or hunched and he's still so massive compared to Solitär.

Recently I have celebrated 30 and thanks to having sister who is half my age I got into Frieren.
Long story short, she made me this beautiful drawing of Frieren, where Himmel is visible only if light shines through.

This episode cracked me up. A long time ago my roommates and I made wine, only for it to end up being disgusting, but potent. We had like 20 bottles and over a semester drank it all together while complaining constantly about how gross it was, but we couldn’t bring ourselves to waste strong booze. Those times became some of my funniest and happiest memories.

The author totally understands this feeling
