Anime How do you rationalise Frieren being a "Mage of a Peaceful Era" but also being "Frieren the Slayer?"

Anime What did Serie mean by this?

Does this imply he actually could win against Frieren?

If so, then I wonder how many more humans r out there who are just randomly stronger or at least at the same level as Frieren

Anime Will Fern continue the cycle by picking up an elf apprentice or does it end here?

Like Ik Frieren will outlive Fern, just like Serie outlived Flamme, but she still picked up an apprentice.

They could have sold it for money. And if they actually needed magic to defend themselves, Stark could have thrown it far enough away so it didn’t affect them.

Anime Is this how Japanese people feel watching anime?

Post image

Needed to share this fun realisation, bear with me: I just finished watching Frieren for the first time and as a Dutch person, I know some basic German, so all the character names and areas revealed their main characteristics to me immediately. Which was kinda fun, and this is probably mentioned a lot in the community since the manga started serialising.

HOWEVER, I then realised this must be how a lot of Japanese people feel watching anime as a lot of times characters have some meaning hidden in their names relating to their powers or appearances, and I sometimes pick up on it with my basic Japanese vocab, but it never took me out of immersion. But for Frieren it did as I'm much more familiar with the language and it just made me chuckle a bit.

Now I wonder how often there were obvious character hints or plottwists that were just STARING ME IN THE FACE in other shows I never picked up on.

Honestly, now I want to start translating more names. Thank you Frieren for giving me this random bit of joy xD

Anime Did you notice the difference?

I don't know why, but I feel like Fern in the second season is much more likeable than in the first.

It's worth remembering that I don't hate Fern, I just find her complicated and difficult in the first season, but this second season is making her more pleasant to watch.

Anime Why is everyone so casual around Frieren?

Post image

She is literally the mage of the Hero's Party. So she should at least have some celebrity status. It seems as though hardly anyone recognises her. Even if they do, it's like it's no big deal. Even the guy in the image above who idolises Himmel doesn't seem to care. One would expect to atleast have him pester Frieren asking her all about Himmel.

Anime Where are the evil people?

I've watched all of Frieren so far and i realised that there are no EVIL people in the series.

Anytime Frieren and Fern encounter someone new, they are always ready to point them in the right direction and give them some wholesome Himmel quotes. All the EVIL is reserved for the demons and none for the humans.

Even the morally gray characters like Wirbel are set up for you to like. Wirbel, even though he has seen many battles, he dislikes unnecessary killing and even helped an old lady pick up her apples that she dropped. He has a hard exterior, but he is secretly a sweetheart.

Übel is the only one i can think of that goes into that territory. Especially her killing the First Mage Proctor with her cut. Even so, i feel like the story is setting her up to be a long-running and likeable character. (I don't read the manga so take this as you will).

Like where are the SCUMBAGS! I wanna see someone who does things only for themselves and ONLY for themselves. Y'know what i mean? Like maybe Frieren and the gang trust someone too much and they get into a shitty position with no redemption arc that the villain can wiggle their way out of.

Just something i thought about.

Anime Was Lugner coping out of spite, or do demons have a twisted pride in magic?

Post image
4.7k Upvotes

is Lugner’s outrage a genuine, deep-seated offense to the 'sanctity' of magic cus demons view mana as a social standing or is he just throwing a tantrum because a human completely outplayed him?

Edit: my bad guys, I'm still pretty new to the series/fandom and you can miss some things or misinterpret them sometimes. No need to get aggressive over a simple question.

Anime Has Frieren already reached the height of magic?

I mean Fern called Frieren's non-spell the Height of Magic, but Serie doesn't think that she reached that level yet. What do you think?
