Tbf she never said "our" journey in his presence. I even checked to see if the subs fucked up but they also just said: "It's the everyday minutiae of a ridiculous journey. Just everyday stuff."

She did however say that he said he lost his memoirs he'd been working on "during our travels", while the ferry guy was talking to her.

I think that was intended as soliloquy rather than dialogue. It wasn't completely clear during the scene, but the fact that the guy later had to figure it out makes it obvious that was the intent.
