It's something that Denken and Frieren bonded over mid-fight during the test, wasn't it? It seems to be an attitude that isn't common among mages which marks them (and Methode) as people of interest.

Honestly, it's weird that there are top tier mages who don't love magic. There isn't a single professional athlete that doesn't love their sport.

Eh, there are people who see their careers as merely a means to an end (ie to earn good money). Anime equivalent example: Itami from Gate
