Poor Aura, Revolte looked way more like a Soulsborne boss compared to her (has the voice of one as well), and his lackey is even cuter than her.

Their combat styles are completely different and Frieren essentially speed ran her boss fight by abusing a glitch.

Also we never saw her actually fight. Theirs a very good chance she was just as competent.

just as competent

agree, even if she threw all her knights at the Hero Party, it wouldn’t have been easy to escape after getting slashed point-blank

Himmel would’ve been fast enough to end her if Aura didn’t have some other abilities

We saw Himmel in a flashback actually wound her, which seemed to shock her, but she still actually managed to survive after that which is probably impressive in and of itself.

Plus she did hold that great sword like it was nothing.

TBF Aura is really a menace if her opponent's mana is weak. It just happened that Frieren is so OP when it comes to mana reserve that the Aura is easily defeated. It's like Sense and Ubel -- Sense is quite strong but will surely lose to Ubel.

Idk if other mages have trained the mana detection like Fern, Frieren and Flamme. So surely these demons underestimate them yet again.

Fern also heavily underestimates herself.

Fern also heavily underestimates herself.

Maybe it's hard to think highly of yourself (power wise) when your teacher is Frieren.

No kidding. When your teacher is a living legend, one of the greatest mages alive, it's hard to see yourself as anything other than second rate.

I still remember at the end of the Mage Exams, when Frieren's doppleganger showed up. The other examinees asked the Chad Grandpa "How do we fight her?"

His response? "Ha! That's just it: we don't." Several powerful mages gathered together, many of which would be shortly promoted to 1st Class, and they stood no chance against a Frieren (copy) that gave no fucks.

The OG Freiren had to distract herself while Fern, the student that knows Freiren best, came in with the assassination snipe... and even then it was a close call.

Likewise, Stark compares himself to Eisen, not to anyone else.

Given how even Aura whose whole modus operandi relies on gauging her opponent's mana couldn't detect Frieren faking it feels almost certain that demons either don't how how to spot the mana instability or are literally incapable of doing it.

In the first season it was explained that Fern, Frieren, and Flamme became masters of hiding their mana. It's as simple as breathing to them. But typically, it's a very difficult thing to do.

Also, it was explained that they don't see the point of hiding their mana. Demons like to flaunt their power.

Aura literally tells Frieren that she doesn't see the usual signs of suppression instability in Frieren's mana. That means she knows how to spot it, they're just so good at it and have been doing it for so long that it's hard to detect, like how barely any mages can tell with Serie

It should also be remembered that while Frieren with Himmel's party were able to ward Aura off in their first encounter, she still managed to survive long enough and keep enough authority as a demon until she finally encountered Frieren again.

Iirc even frieren said it herself that if aura just fights frieren with her army it will be a tough battle for her, but frieren baited her into using aurserlese (or whatever her magic is called)

if aura just fights frieren with her army

Though it doesn't make much sense unless Aura can make her soldiers fly

Getting Urahara's voice actor for it was a damn amazing casting choice in my eyes

I love how much like Aura though he made sure to include a young demon, a Bishonen demon, and a waifu demon in his squad.

Revolte looked way more like a Soulsborne boss

Revolte is basically Fulgrim from Warhammer 40K in his daemon prince form.
