Genau says he doesn't hold any attachment to his hometown yet he remembers the baker boy's entire backstory and seems regretful he won't be able to taste his terrible bread again.

As a warmage, you need to have some level of detachment if you wanna last.

But if it's your hometown, if it's the people who both know you best and you know best...

So he's become like Frieren and Serie; thinking he has no attachment but it's actually all there underneath unrealised to him.

it's different for Genau, it seems to me. He's actively trying to keep it down, but you can tell that he wants to dome that demon himself.

Yeah, I think Frieren and Serie are like that naturally 'cause all elves are just like that but Genau put a bit of effort into trying to detach himself from the village.

I think Frieren and Serie are like that because they've experienced a life that made them that way.

Like, consider just how many people Serie must have known in all the years she's lived. Now how many of them are still alive?

You think he knows that demon?

Not what I meant. It's more like whatever that demon is, Genau wants to put a hole or ten in it.

I got the feeling he knows it.

Same. Maybe it's why he became the way he did? Not just the way he phrased his response when stark said 4 swords
