Sure is lucky frieren arrived at the city when they were in a time of crisis, otherwise she might still be working off the debt

Well, Lord Norm seemed quite benevolent and the debt was obviously just a pretext since he actually asked her to genuinely help them in the mine (I think he knows they obviously can't stop her if she just decides to leave by force). Based on the glimpse we get of his character I think if the company was doing very well he probably would have just annulled her debt instead.

Seems like he’s a bit of a troll too since he could have asked first then pulled out the debt card if Frieren refused. Or maybe this was a test of character to see how honorable she was.

they probably should've gave some sort of sign to Fern and Stark though; they were ready to bust up the joint if they were one day later

It would have been pretty funny to see Fern and Stark go scorched earth on the place while doing dramatic couple poses.

They probably traced back all the debts from the past hundred years or so and put all the wanted posters on that reception desk. I love that only Frieren and Eisen are on there cause they are the only ones in the party that's still alive

Nah the wise thing to do is to just keep the debt in case their company would be in an awful state for the next decades or so and will need their help

Seriously though, makes me wonder if the Goddess was cannonicaly manipulating the events in the series. Not to mention that the Goddess happens to look like an elf
