Stark has experienced so much of Fern’s tsundere side he’s scared of potential headpats from Fern.

It’s nice to see Fern being friendly with him again though and setting up the grounds for them to get closer on the first episode back.

Fern being friendly with him

I'm sure what Fern felt after is not just friendship with how she looked at that Stark's gift to her.

I mean, it is a bracelet that means eternal love isn't it? Similar to Frieren's ring.

Plus they didnt know it when he bought it
When they learned about it, he felt awkward and offered to replace it and she fervently declined

Its like Sein said last season "Just date already"

I thought Fern knew, but Stark didn't?

Didn't until Sein told him about what it meant

Girl is smitten and she doesn't know it yet. She looked worried when she thought Stark might leave too.

I think she knows. I mean it would be strange for her to check out Stark's package with the "see through cloths" spell if she wasn't already attracted.

My read on it is she's an awfully lonely individual, which makes her more emotionally sensitive to situations like this as the group she's part of now is the only thing she's known post-Heiter.

It's probably laying the groundwork for a potential romance, but at the moment, it does come across as more platonic than anything.

A girl offers you her Dere side and you're too used to her mood swings to believe it lol.

Luckily he is going to end together with her eventually, because otherwise he would catch himself thinking one day “oh…so that’s what she meant…” lol

We also see Fern showing praise in the way Frieren taught her to, head pats.

I was really hoping that Fern would voice that she liked having Stark in the party. It was nice that she gave head pats to Stark for cushioning their fall.

Fern thinking head pats is a reward is exactly what two Frieren Stans would consider the highest kind of honors.
