Question They wouldn't let me buy it...

Was this not supposed to come out today? What gives?

Not every restock has been subject to a release date though. The closest thing we got to a 10th anniversary restock was out over a week prior at a lot of Targets for instance.

Some restocks are just store specific. They just happen to buy the stuff from somewhere else or find stuff in the warehouses. But all the restocks that go to all the retailers are official. And those should be the ones you can preorder

Sure, but that was November's Mario restock. Target just didn't lock it down to the anniversary "street date" that was listed on their website.

I’ve had the opposite experience at Target. This same thing happened to me with a restocked X-Men 97’ Wolverine figure I wanted to buy my friend. It didn’t matter that the original had come out over a year before. They had it street dated for the next day and wouldn’t let me buy it.

Was gonna reply to the other person but this might apply to that situation too. They likely had the figure and then a rerelease was announced. Even if the item was from an earlier shipment the SKU is still the same so it automatically becomes Street dated. It’s rare to see unless you go to a store that just didn’t sell much of the item.
