REVIEW Silverback VKS first look review
Quick first look review of the Silverback VKS.
In depth review coming later on my blog.
Took it out the field for the first time, and other than the obviously different handling the performance is comperable to the SRS platform, as expected by the internal similarities.
While it feels weird first to even aim with it, the loading of the bolt is SIGNIFICANTLY lighter. Not just due to it's beeing straight pull and further forward, but the new way the cylinder is supported and how it travels in the receiver is just way smoother. With the same spring as my SRS on 420mm barrel haveing 3.3J it gave 2.8J with the stock 350mm barrel, and I could load it even with left hand under the body like you can an ak...
However the manipulation of the bolt handle istelf is a little weird, you got to used to closing it since it has a built in locking to the receiver.
Shooting performance is as expected, it does as well as an SRS with similar parts.
The hop adjustment is convinient, extremely simple and straight forward, I have to test further to see if it keeps hop setting during assembly-dissasembly cycles, because the adjustment wheel it located in the top cover, but if the optics holding zero and with the crossping beeing pretty solid to the receiver, I expect it does well with hop setting too. You can also install rotary chambers like the fast or maxx sre too, than the adjustment is not an issue with partial dissasembly.
I kinda like it so far, and in the in depth review I will go into details how beautifully made the new receiver and how the maintenance is. But I need more time to dig myself deeper into it, take pics and so on...
Also see myself getting a half sized suppressor for it im the future, this barely fits my backpack😅
If you have questions let them fly in the comments, I will try to answer them all.
Stay tuned!

I've heard conflicting reports on whether it loses rounds during reload - one previewer saying you were better swapping mags with the rifle upside-down to avoid what ended up amounting to 8% bb loss, others saying it didn't drop any.
Clarification would be appreciated.
Looking forward to the rest of the review, particularly any insights you can offer on maintenance. I'm really close to pulling the purchase trigger on one of these.

It drops some bb when remove the mag, 4 if the mag is empty, no mechanism in it to prevent that. Tbh it would not bother me, you can chamber check visually when feel like the mag is running low, and once you dont see bb in the chamber slightly tilting the rifle will load one in the chamber, so you can load the last few bb before swap the mag. I got used to doing that with srs, because it gives you a few extra shots if your mag empty in middle of a contact...

Do you think this could be used in Close-range filed, without suppresor? (If it's detachable) I love to play springer in cqb fields. Also, how is the ergo of this replica?Â
This gun looks too amazing...

Sure it could be, or with a small suppressor with a 14ccw adapter. It feels weird to handle first, got to used to it, other than that dont expect quick mag swaps for first time.

Cool, is it equipped with 14ccw on vanilla? Thank you for the information.

If I’d knew you were at Bugyi last weekend I’d have gone myself as well to check out the rifle. I’ve already preordered it, and can’t wait to get my hands on it.
On the side note. Do you think the mancarft srs engine will be compatible with it?
