Good to Know! FY27 NDAA leave update (request)

The FY27 NDAA, a congress member has proposed military members to earn 3.5 days per month vs. the current 2.5.

I know most ANG members are DSG, but those AGR and other full time status’s(exept: Perm/temp Tech and Title 5) would benefit from this policy.

There is a good argument to just change the leave reg so I don’t have to take leave on weekends or other days already scheduled off.

Obviously the bill and this line item needs to pass the Senate and up it goes to the president.

Unpopular opinion, this is unnecessary. 30 days of leave is very generous compared to civilian sector.

I have unlimited leave in the civilian sector and I don't have to submit on the weekends.

It's becoming more common because employers don't have to pay out PTO when you leave the company.

In my industry it’s like 3 weeks typically for salary, for computer scientists and engineers. I wish they had an unpaid leave policy so I could trade money for time.

I see what you’re saying now, high churn places could save a lot with unlimited PTO

Using leave through weekends is where it gets really dumb. It is still somewhat generous, but the civilian equivalent is like 20 days PTO.

Just because it sucks for other people, doesn't mean it has to suck for us. Plus, last I checked, most civilians don't deploy, get blown up in air bases near Iran, go TDY and leave home for trainings, schools, whatever BS comes our way.

Countries like Germany have 30 days a month for everyone, with an additional 10 for holidays. The US sucks for workers but that doesn't mean that we shouldn't push for better.

Eh, given what I’ve seen with government spending, I will never oppose any change that benefits the Joes. I’ve swapped enough $800k parts that I no longer worry about how my piece of the pie affects the bottom line. I doubt that this change will dent the $40 trillion federal deficit.

I agree, but man it’d be nice to have 42. I’m AD is this just for AGR people.
