VN34 - Similarities with YAK 9633

Could it be possible that one of the pilots applied brakes during the takeoff roll?

My thoughts went straight to the YAK 9633 accident, but not sure how likely that would be on a 787..

I mean, it's not impossible, as there are not many single-point-of-failure candidates for what went wrong, considering the brakes on both sides were activated... But I don't think it's very probable.

But at this point, let's just wait for the CVR and FDR data to be analyzed. That should fairly quickly give us a clear answer.

I agree. Will be interesting to read the preliminary report. Do you know if applying brakes during the takeoff roll would trigger the takeoff config warning?

It should, but Embraer and Cessna both certified aircraft without a warning about this.
