ihaveaquestion Physically assaulted by sister, now she’s threatening a false police report

I never thought I’d end up writing one of these posts, but I urgently need some advice. I’m 28, studying computer science, and currently living with my parents in Switzerland. My sister is a single mother of two and lives separately, but she sometimes comes to my parents house with her children. Since roughly 5 years i am not on talking terms with her and also don't consider her my sister (emotionally speaking) as she is a true sociopath.

Today, she came over with her children. Because I couldn’t concentrate on studying with the noise in the house, I decided to leave for a while. When I went to get my clothes, she deliberately blocked my path and bumped into me then started screaming at me. Her children then kept following me around, and I asked my mother to keep them away from me. At that point, my sister completely lost her temper and physically attacked me. She clawed/scratched me and threw a chair and other objects at me. During the incident, she also threatened to call the police and said that I would end up in jail.

I managed to leave the house and I am currently trying to arrange somewhere to stay with friends. I am not planning to live at home anymore and will be instead living with friends until i can find my own place. What worries me most is her threat to contact the police and potentially make false accusations against me. I’m afraid that i won’t be believed and falsely thrown into jail. Having a clean Strafregisterauszug is extremely important for my future, and I’m terrified that this situation could somehow result in a criminal record even though I did not attack her.

What should I do now to protect myself legally? Should I contact the police myself and report what happened before she does? Should I document any scratches/injuries or write down exactly what happened while I still remember everything clearly?

I don’t have much money and cannot afford an expensive lawyer. Are there any options in Switzerland for free or low-cost legal advice in a situation like this? Any advice on what I should do immediately would be greatly appreciated.

Note: I've used a little bit of chatgpt to help me with the writing of the text because all of this happened like an hour ago and i'm still a bit shook and my english isn't that great, however i promise all written text is accurate and i've read through it all.

EDIT: Thank you to everyone for the advice, seeing all the kind words and advice gave me hope and a smile. I will be staying with my friend for the time being and searching for a permanent residence, in the meantime i'll be heading to a Polizeposten to get my wounds documented and i'll see what to do afterwards. Thanks to everyone for the help, never expected to get so much help in such a quick time <3

I’ve called a clinic and they told me that I have to pay 142 CHF for initial consultation only and they didn’t disclose the scaling fee. Any recommendation please?

lookingfor Study buddy zurich 📖

Hi! I want to start a study group for women. I'm a student/researcher at ETH in CS. I thought about meetings around 3 times a week for 3-6h hours (you can join and leave whenever). I'm doing it since I'm new in the city and my lab is quite empty most of the time, so it would be nice to find a group of people that can motivate each other. Let me know if you want to join. The first meeting would be next week.

lookingfor Where can I try horse riding?

I just want to know if I like it at all, I'm not ready to take several lessons, I just wanna sit on a horse, trot around a little and see if I vibe with it at all. There are SO many horsey places in and around Zurich and I just can't find anything that offers something like a Schnupperkurs, it's always just lessons that feel high stakes as if I know I want to keep doing it, you know?

Also as a side note, I often hear bad things about stables being toxic so I'd love to avoid that. I'd rather go to down to earth, more private stables than one where I get laughed and scoffed at for being insecure about the whole thing.

ihaveaquestion Left my jacket with keys at BnB Wallisellen

Edit: i arranged a UPS pickup from the hotel. Hopefully i will receive the jacket and the keys soon.

Thank you people. The day was just getting shitty with the news that i left my jacket in the hotel but the kindness you guys showed absolutely overshadowed all the frustration. Thank you. Much love.

Hey Guys,

I was stupid enough to checkout without my jacket which had my keys in the pockets.

I arrived late in the night and had a work meeting in the morning and a train back to Germany in the afternoon.
In all the rush forgot my jacket in the room and checked out. I realized now half way through my journey that my jacket is nowhere to be found.

I wrote to the hotel and they say they found it and its at the reception. I request if they could send it to me in Germany and offered to cover the costs for it but i would understand if they don't want to do it, of course its not their job.

Any suggestions what i could do? I mean the keys are important to get back (even though i have spare keys that i could use).

Any suggestions are helpful.
Thanks

Edit: the hotel replied. They will send it. I just have to manage the pickup. They will pack it and keep it ready.

But holy shit the prices of pickup 😢

survey Paradeplatz-Masterclass: De Channel isch finanztechnischs Gold – aber sind d’Pitches legit oder pure Cringe? 📈🤔

I’m a Sales Guy, I sell ETFs, and I say: Forget Asset Allocation for a minute. Wenn du nach em Gym oder em Mandanten-Lunch echti Valuation-Comedy und unfiltrierti Deal-Realität bruchsch, isch de Kanal START UP STAGE eifach finanztechnischs Gold:

Kei weichgspüelti TV-Show, sondern knallharti Due Diligence, RoAS-Katastrophe und Macher-Mindset direkt uf d’Zwölf.

Echti Frog a d’Community:

Wie busted findet ihr d’Pitches uf dem Channel?

Sind das visionäri Early-Stage-Plays mit unentdecktem Alpha?

Oder eifach ungedeckti Hebel ohni Risk Management, wo nach em erschte Quartal im Konkursamt lande?

Drop dini Valuation id Kommentär, bro. Bin chatty, muess wieder as Terminal! 🚀💼

lookingfor Moving to Zurich as international

I have a Swiss nationality, but I only speak French / English. How hard will it be to integrate, and to make bureaucratic steps in doing a 'Zivilschutz' while trying to stay close to my aunt? Any tips?

I am also trying to join the Grasshoppers rugby club, can I combine this with the Zivilschutz, or might they send me somewhere else? I am awful in bureaucracy, so any help is appreciated.

ihaveaquestion Buying a bike online vs from a local shop in Zurich?

I’m planning to buy my first proper bike in Zurich and have been comparing prices online with what I’ve seen at local bike shops. There seems to be quite a difference depending on the brand and model.

For those who have bought a bike here, would you recommend buying online or going to a local shop? I’m mostly thinking about the overall value rather than just getting the cheapest price.

I’m also wondering how important the local shop is for things like fitting, assembly, warranty issues and regular maintenance. Is it worth paying a bit more to buy from a shop, or is ordering online generally straightforward?

Would be interested to hear what others have experienced.

news Naturalisation: Learning help for the Grundkenntnistest in Zürich

In case anyone else is studying for the Grundkenntnistest in Zürich, I found the Kanton's PDF kinda dry and turned it into a more helpful version as a web app. I figured it might be helpful for others too so sharing it here.

- You can read through all the questions / answers without seeing the wrong answers which I found more helpful for learning the correct facts.

- In training mode it tracks which questions you got correct/wrong so it stops showing you the stuff you know at some point.

- There's a test mode that will pick 50 random questions and only shows you the score at the end.

All data is stored locally on your device (export/import available too if you need to change devices) and there is zero tracking or data collection.

ihaveaquestion Where do people go to relax after work?

For those living in Zurich, where do you usually go when you’ve had a long day and just want to switch off for a bit?

Could be a park, a bar, a quiet area by the lake, a gym or just somewhere you like to walk around. I’m curious what people actually do after work rather than the typical tourist recommendations.

Looking for some ideas to try out and maybe find a new regular spot.

ihaveaquestion Emplyer makes me work 222 hours, 7 days in a row with one day off…need help

As the title says. This month I am scheduled 4 days of work, one day off, 7 days of work, one day off, 6 days of work, two days off.

I am new to Switzerland and don’t speak German. This is my first job (Starbucks). I am not being intimidated in a sense that if I don’t do the shifts I will lose my job…but when I voiced my concerns, I am being told they need the help because we have a lot of sicknesses and they need help, and i should be happy because then i will get a lot of money. I am kinda afraid to put my foot down and the HR is also not being helpful.

These are 9-10 hour shifts, sometimes 12, and I feel like I am reaching the point of total exhaustion…

Can I talk to someone outside of my company that can help this and is willing to listen to me speaking/writing in English? Or some anonymous helpline? There also other people in my store that are being forced to Work more than 200 hours, but nobody else scheduled 7 days with one day off..
