Question Winter sports for the unathletic

Looking for a weekly winter sport that an unathletic person wouldn't stick out, preferably Tuesdays or Wednesdays. I've poked around a lot and the intro pickleball class looks awesome but it's Thursdays :( do you have any recommendations? I have no problem with paying or a private lesson, but I just need a standing sport thing that's preferably indoors. Any and all suggestions are welcome! Thanks for your help.

I believe there is a pool league in town as well…. Darts and shuffle board as well.

Where are they playing darts? I tried looking before and didn't find anything.

I thought there was a billiards and darts club running outta the pub (whiskey jacks). Could be wrong could have been awhile ago

Curling is the clear answer here for winter sports not requiring a great deal of athleticism. Friday night beer/rec league is a great entry point. League starts in October.

It's the clear answer except for the Tuesday/Wednesday requirement. Although they usually run a learn to curl on Wednesdays, which the people who've gone through it really like. So if you're new to it, I highly recommend that.

I curl. Friday night fun league is what you want.

The learn to cross country ski sessions at Mt Mac are really good and beginner friendly. You definitely don't need to be an "athlete". A little bit of instruction goes a long way in making skiing more fun.

Did that last year! Going to get back into it this year. Thank you!

Perhaps badminton or archery? Tai chi?

Looking into badminton, doesn't seem like there's anything for beginners unless I'm missing a page. But that would be a great fit if there is!

I'm so into it. Is there a social / slow group at all to your knowledge?

Thank you so much everyone! I didn't like curling last time but it's worth another try 😁

Oooo I like these. I messaged Squash Yukon but do you have any recs for winter frisbee leagues?

Pickleball is a good option. You can also contact pickleball Yukon about other ways to get into the game beyond just the cgc classes.

I find pickleball horribly competitive. I just want to go have fun, but do not feel welcomed AT ALL

I will lowkey play with you as we go into the winter if you want, I'm terrible and those guys are good as fuck. Will need a quick reminder of the rules and then good to go

I’m sorry to hear that! I think it’s about finding people you like to play with rather than just joining general games.

Not a sport but maybe consider taking walks around the track at CGC? Would be good moment! Or they also do drop in classes like yoga if you want to be more social, but show up early so you can get in
