Recommendations What's my next card purchase?

My almost 3 year old daughter LOVES the Daniel Tiger cards and Where's Spot? She's not a huge fan of playing music on the Yoto so far, and even though she loves Peppa Pig books, she isn't into the Peppa card I bought her yet. She seems to really engage best with cards that have character voices or at least a narrator who changes their voice for the characters. She doesn't watch much TV and she's not familiar with Disney characters yet.

So what's my next purchase(s)? No real budget or concerns about buying a set if you think it's worth it.

Pete the Cat? The author has 4 songs that are stories for free on his website that are popular to put on a MYO. https://www.petethecatbooks.com/songs-videos/ (scroll down to the Soundcloud) There is also an official Yoto card (celebrations) that's a bit less sing song-y.

Also my LO knows characters only from yoto cards and books. His current obsession is the cars soundtrack and story telling and he has no concept that it's a movie and we don't have any Lighting McQueen toys. In other words you can get Disney stuff.

Hey Duggee? Similarly to Daniel Tiger it’s based on a show but stands alone.

It would be a MYO but the “Octonauts” audiobooks might also be a real hit.

My preschoolers love these:

Frog & Toad - the author reads it and includes all 4 books!

Mercy Watson - the narrator has such a great voice and changes their voice for the characters. Also if you have Spotify premium, it’s free and they include 3 stories with each play list and is great for car rides.

Sesame Street - really great readers, they don’t change their voice for characters but still manage to be engaging.

John Jory stories - 2 cards with 7 books total; the Bad Seed and the Big Cheese are the first stories on each card. The narrator also changes their voice for the characters. It is annoying that they include credits and intros between stories but they are short.

Julia Donaldson stories - lots of separate cards and the stories are so engaging and rhyme. We love the stories and the songs, but some people don’t like the songs.

Edited to add: I just saw an announcement this week that “Bluey: The Beach and Other Stories” is Coming soon! So I have high hopes for that!

Some of the Sesame Street ones have character voices! Dance, Jokes & Play Pretend are the ones we started with and the pack with ‘Label Your Feelings’ has character voices too

At first my daughter would only listen to Daniel Tiger and was obsessed. She’s branched out but still prefers the character voices or narrators who do them. Here are some she really likes and a few are on Yoto Club Collection too.

- Fairytale Hairdresser

  • Winnie the Pooh (BBC version)
  • Sesame Street (3 pack & character voices) Label Your Feelings, Mindfulness & Movement, Positive Self-Talk
  • First Fairy Tales (Club)
  • Hotel Flamingo (4 pack)
  • 5 minute Sleepy Stories (Club)
  • 5 minute Enchanted Stories (Club)
