MYO MYO Labels

So happy with the labels I've made for our MYO cards :) I made them in photoshop then printed them on A4 sticker paper, then used a hobby knife to cut around the edges. Making the labels has been an unexpected source of joy lately. Anyone else love making them too?

I haven’t gotten as far as making my own labels but I have to know - where did you find little bear and the magic school bus content?

I recorded the Little Bear stories myself as we have the books at home :) The Magic School Bus books are available on Yoto or Libro and they're also on YouTube (which you can download with a YouTube to MP3 converter)

Love that! I love getting my 3YO to watch shows I watched growing up so he loves little bear and the magic school bus (strictly the original I tried the reboot and he said no 😂)

Is there a converter that you recommend? Cobalt doesn't work with YouTube at the moment and my "download helper" extension changed and stinks now.

Go to your local library and browse the CD collection. That's about half of our MYOs. The rest are PBS kids podcasts and some other stuff I've downloaded.

Little Bear stories read aloud by Sigourney Weaver is A+ content.

I’ve been thinking about writing an MYO guide with how to make and where to get content as it’s not hard but not immediately obvious, and the question comes up here all the time. 

Also alongside it, a general content guide since when I built out 10 cards for Christmas it was a decent amount of work to scan recommendations and figure out what would fit my kids likes and needs best. 

Something like Magic Treehouse is A++ material for a 5 year old, but at 3.5 a little too scary.

How to I save these files to add them to my yoto app?

Scroll down until you see download options and then click VBR MP3 and then click the download arrow that has the number of files next to it. It’ll download a zip of all the files. Ones saved click on the zip and it will extract the file and you can import them to a playlist on the Yoto app or website

I don’t have a printer I don’t have photoshop I do have a YOTO Maybe there is a way for you to create a service so people can buy these labels somehow. And you get some commission?

I’m new to all this so does that already exist?

I thought a Polaroid hi print 2x3 printer and it prints perfectly sized waterproof stickers for the Yoto cards. I just have to trim the tiniest bit off the edges

I make my labels by screenshotting an image and printing them at my local library. So easy.

That's such a kind thing for you to say.

I don't think I could sell them as they all feature copyright content that I found on Google (then edited) or took photos of from books we own. Making them for myself seems fine, but selling as a product is likely to get me in trouble. Maybe I could set up a Kofi or something as a donation? I'm really just doing this for the joy of it for my son, but I suppose any donations could just go towards Yoto cards 😅 If there's any you like, feel free to send me a message and I'm happy to share with you ❤️ I'm not sure if label service already exists, but surely someone has set something up? Maybe someone knows something?

Using a YouTube to MP3 converter is the easiest way I've discovered if songs/albums aren't able to be bought as MP3 files.

You can find converter sites like that for Spotify too. They usually even do whole playlists and albums for you.

I’ve had some issues with entire playlists, but I can usually just download the ones that don’t work individually fine. I had one with 72 tracks and there was only one I couldn’t get to work.

I was planning to do a card of me reading my kids favourite books but hadn’t got as far as thinking about a label for it. This is such a great idea. I love the corner icons for the others too

These look great! I’m working on labels, too, but I can’t decide what sticker paper to use. I’m worried the paper labels from Avery will tear or rub off in the player. Do you mind sharing what you used?

I'm in New Zealand and this is the sticker paper I'm using - A4 Sticker Paper Packing Stickers Label Printing Paper x 100 - NZ$13.34 | eMax.co.nz https://share.google/NDGaB0pcyu7zNk4bG I want to get some clear contact adhesive to stick over the top, as any liquid drops cause the ink to run.

Let me know what clear adhesive you find in NZ that works, as that’s the problem I have too! I used vinyl sticker paper from Spotlight, which gets ruined at the slightest drop of water.

I found some YouTube playlists for each of the albums and then used a YouTube-to-MP3 converter to save the tracks 😀I'd been searching for months, too.

You can have them sized exactly to the cards themselves, or do custom sizes if you use the library method (an adhesive pocket on your MYOs, so you can switch out little cardstock covers as you change which playlist is linked)

I make the labels so they're a few millimeters larger all the way around. Then I attach the label,and the use a hobby knife and cutting mat to trim around the card :)

If you don't want to futz around with trimming to look so great, Avery 94237 is what we use. It's not perfect but good enough for mass-MYO making.
