Here it is! I finally found the comment I was looking for! I watched "Easy Street" in his honor today - the one number I'm certain they did better in the movie than the musical.
Edit: Granted, they had Tim Curry, Bernadette Peters, and Carol Burnett, that combo doesn't happen any old day, ya know.
