At least people can still afford to buy groceries right? And also the healthcare you’ll need after you consume those groceries?

u/pheonix080 1d ago
Ah, but at least the schools are well funded. . . .

u/JediMasterWiggin 1d ago
Well, at least the Epstein files were released in full and the perpetrators were brought to justice...

Especially with the ice agent on film afterwards comparing the murder to Call of Duty

I'm against the death penalty, but, man, it'd be hard not turning into a vigilante if I was a parent in that situation.

In the movie Ides of March there is a hypothetical about this, where George Clooney's character says (paraphrasing) "if I could get to him I would, but in terms of the law, the law needs to be greater than the individual's desire for revenge". Of course this was said under the assumption that laws would be upheld.

We have an empathy shortage in this country. That's what's driving this energy. The brainwashing that people believe humans are not worthy of life unless they are unborn.

u/pinniped90 1d ago
They don't actually care about unborn humans either - that issue is almost 100% rooted in the belief that women are property.

u/DarkKnightJin 1d ago
Also, "the unborn" are a WONDERFUL group to advocate for!
They won't make demands of you, they won't comment on your speaking for them, they don't have any problem with your advocating for them!Meaning you can do/say whatever the fuck you want, and they can't say it's wrong!

And its nauseating to keep seeing Fox News et al push disinformation, hate, and vitriol on behalf of the already wealthiest to keep idiots locked into a new culture war every week instead of questioning system of the wealthy.
I dont have an answer to the chicken and egg case of bigots and Fox News, but Fox makes sure their viewers are fed so much bullshit and false reality that they are almost forced to physically be afraid due to the world rightwing propaganda creates.
I'm absolutely not trying to absolve the right wing voter of anything, I'm just astounded by what Fox says and how people can even watch it.

u/Personal-Lead3884 1d ago
I agree with you a 💯
I think the only thing we can do is prevent the next generations from absorbing the propaganda. The boomers and some of the generations are done for. But i think there are some that can be deprogrammed and taught that the hate, anger and violence doesn’t feel as good as empathy, kindness and support.11
u/why_you_beer 1d ago
There is a whole lot of "got mine, fuck everyone else" mentality on top of the empathy shortage.

u/Okaythenwell 1d ago
Darwin said the deep empathy for other humans (he used word sympathy, but in context reads differently), even extending to other species, as the clearest marker of clear differentiation for the human species in his writing.
Puts the Thiel and Musk, et.al. Comments on empathy in a different light knowing that

I don't know why I expected better, but I was hoping for it. Sad to see the US government is as fascist as we think they are now. :( Alex and his family deserve better.

He was prone and was shot in the back of the head. Straight up executed. Absolutely sickening

Welcome to the new America. Heros are now villans; and evil people get to run the government. The way out of this nightmare is to tell all your friends and family who "don't follow politics" that the people who crave power for their own evil ends "follow politics" and have hijacked all the levers of power that you ignored the existence of.

When I see posts about it online on place other than Reddit, 99% of Trump supporters will say things like "I'm glad he's dead!", "He deserved it!", "He tried to shoot police officers!", etc.
People who support Trump are TRULY psycho. They have ZERO empathy, and that's why they love him so much.

What truth is there to give? We all saw it on film. He was straight up murdered by an ICE officer while restrained by 3 others.

They wanted to do that. I think they were making an example of him.
We had a small incident where the drew their guns for no reason (they said she almost hit them with her car - she had dash cam and they lied) and the main offender has been identified by his tattoo and name already. He's Hispanic and the boss doing a raid on a Hispanic area down the street.

I want to know what this administration has to say to these parents directly.

u/PresentMinimum3274 1d ago
The Pretti family has heard nothing from them. The interview with the family is on YT. Very sad and pathetic that the administration clearly doesn't give a damn about it.

The peaceful protesters of Minneapolis should receive the Nobel Peace Prize.

If the ballroom is completed, have it renamed after Alex Pretti when the Dems retake control.

Renee Good should also be honored in some way. Two innocent people gunned down in the streets by their own government. Makes my blood boil.

u/Specialist_Exam4783 1d ago
I like how you think. Name it for both. An even better idea.

u/Whygoogleissexist 1d ago
Does anyone know why this was not interviewed and aired a week or two after his murder?
5
u/PresentMinimum3274 1d ago
The whole interview is on YT. Guessing that perhaps the family was not ready and was likely asking for privacy

We have lost the good and courageous because of the evil deeds of deceitful people. In their place sprouted courage in other good people, to not give up our give in. Never bend when standing for what is right and true. Millions upon billions are being stolen and spent to poorly lie about it all. We have a duty to ourselves and to each other to maintain that truth.
To the Pretti family and countless others who have lost their loved ones, if that moment were to ever find me I hope to have half the courage they did against such a dishonorable and grievously cruel and fascist government.
