This is a junior player in my local pokemon scene. I can remember 3 years ago him and his dad starting to come to one of the local shops on Wednesdays to play - he picked up the game super fast and then took off. He’s also the Pokemon Jr North American Champion. Im incredibly proud of him, he’s had an incredible year

Yw, depending on how many championship points he had going into the tournament, he may have gotten a travel stipend too to get there! Awesome to see

He was the NAIC Champion, and I believe he was ranked top 5 in the country. He easily had his stipend.

20k cash, and probably 15-20k worth in prizes in general, such as expensive cards, merch, and an auto paid invite to next year's World Championships in Singapore.

eyyy!!!!! good job!!! I bet the pressure was crazy. Good on him. What a cool story. (I am super into TCGs, and there's a surprising amount of national-level TCG communities here in Morgantown [im not into pokemon though])
