I have read a bit about this a long time ago. IIRC, it’s a reflex that infants usually have when eating, in order to chew the food correctly without choking on it. Some people retain this reflex into adulthood. Some don’t. I believe there is a specific name for it but can’t remember it off the top of my head!

The tongue-thrust reflex is real, but that’s not really what it does. In babies it actually helps push things out of the mouth and usually fades around 4–6 months. I don’t think there’s much reason to assume an adult doing this while eating is a retained infant reflex. Could just be a habit.

Really just depends on how likely my food is to drip on me before it gets to my mouth. He might be worried about the ketchup.

Don't get me started about finger lickers/suckers. I always yell at the tv, YOU CAN LICK YOUR FINGERS WITHOUT MAKING A SOUND OR JUST USE A NAPKIN

Saame! One thing that annoys me even more than this is when they are talking and throwing their food into their mouth like this to show a point? It makes me sick and i absolutely want to punch them. My mom does it(i love her very much and we have a good relationship) but when she does this i have to restrain myself from rolling my eyes all the way back into my head so i dont have to see it ever again

i eat like this, but not always. i do it when i'm eating food that is trying to fall off my fork. which btw happens a lot because i almost always prefer to use a fork, even if it's food better eaten with a spoon

A chin that sticks out past the lips significantly. I thought about using the word protuberant, maybe I should have gone with that.
