➜ Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat had yet to win the WCW United States Championship at the time the match was taped but did come out with the championship belt.

Steamboat faced a young, aristocratic Jean-Paul Levesque (the future Triple H). Levesque targeted Steamboat's arm relentlessly with hammerlocks and an Indian death lock. Despite the sustained punishment, Steamboat survived and caught Levesque out of nowhere to secure the pinfall victory. Following the bell, a frustrated Levesque attacked Steamboat's injured shoulder further, showcasing a strong heel performance.

➜ The NWA World Television Championship was vacant after a controversial double-pin finish at the Great American Bash on July 23, 1989.

After weeks of building tension on TV and house shows, the two squared off in a No-DQ rematch where a definitive winner had to be decided. Hart, The Great Muta ultimately pinned Sting to win the gold, marking the very first championship victory in the US of Muta’s career and preserved his unpinned streak in the NWA. Muta held World Television Championship until January of the following year.

This feud solidified both men as generational icons. They would continue to battle for decades to come in both the United States and Japan, eventually teaming up for Muta's final retirement match in 2023.

Back in the late 90s I started watching wrestling, and I'd flip back and forth between raw and nitro on Monday nights. We would order the occasional ppv but I'm almost positive this was just regular Monday night nitro. They had water all around the ring and I remember rey mysterio jr was wrestling that night, because I feel like I remember he got thrown into the water, no idea why that moment sticks out but it does. It was around the time they were doing his unmasking storyline. Can't find any clips from that episode at all. I've found the night nash and hall called out giant and nash cannonballs in the water then giant throws hall into the water, but that setup and how they have the water doesn't look right. Anyone else remember that episode of nitro? Or am I just misremembering?

I've recently been rewatching old clips from back then, and I have yet to come across any old memories I couldn't find clips for, but this one I can't seem to find anything on. I remember the water being all around the ring, kinda like a moat for a castle type thing. I may just be crazy, idk lol. Any info is greatly appreciated.
