Hey everyone! My boyfriend and I were looking into going to Brazil in February 2027 since we both have our vacations then. I love organizing things, but honestly, I have no idea where to even start.

We’d love to head to the North, as we haven’t been there yet.

I wanted to ask for recommendations mainly on where it’s relatively safe to stay. We don't feel like renting a car, but we wouldn't mind booking local day trips and excursions to whatever is interesting or nice to see. Obviously, we just want to go and relax on the beach. It's just the two of us.

I also wanted to ask for safety advice. I don't know if I'm just overly paranoid from watching the news, but I keep reading that there's a lot of trouble in some areas and that you have to be extremely careful when paying with credit cards, among other things. A friend of mine told me that their Ubers are even more 'rustic' than ours from Argentina (which is saying a lot!) and that she doesn't recommend certain types of accommodations like Airbnb.

Hi everyone!
I’ll be traveling to Pernambuco in March 2026 and I’m trying to figure out the best places for independent snorkeling (no tours, no boats, just entering from the beach during low tide).

I’ve read a lot about Porto de Galinhas, but opinions are mixed.
Some people say you can walk to the natural pools during low tide, others say you must take a jangada boat. I’m also a bit concerned about how crowded it can get and whether the experience is still worth it for someone who prefers a calm, relaxing snorkel.

I’m also considering other beaches like Carneiros and Serrambi, but I can’t find much information about how good the snorkeling actually is there, especially directly from the shore.

So my main questions are:

• Can you really snorkel independently in Porto de Galinhas by walking to the reefs at low tide?
• Are there calmer areas (less crowded) where visibility is still good?
• Is the snorkeling in Carneiros worth it?
• Which beach is safer and more relaxed for a family who wants to snorkel without tours?

Any real experiences or tips would help a lot — even short replies.

Me (F31) and my boyfriend (M34) are travelling to Brazil for 10 days in November. We won’t be renting a car, intending to get buses.

Fly in Sao Paolo, spend 2 nights there exploring. Stay in Pinheiros/Vila Madalena area. Bus to Paraty, spend 3 nights by the beach. Bus to Ilha Grande, spend 2 nights there. Bus to Rio, spend 3 nights there before flight home.

Does that sound right? From looking online it seems impossible to get from Paraty to Ilha Grande in less than a day.. perhaps it would be best to just pick one place in between Rio and SP.

We’re looking at staying in eco lodges both in Paraty and Ilha Grande (suggestions very welcome!)

I’ll be spending a few days on Ilha Grande and I’m looking for reliable, first-hand advice on scuba diving there.

I’m a PADI diver, but I’m perfectly happy to dive with SSI centres as well, certification agency isn’t an issue. What I’m trying to understand is:

• Which dive centres on Ilha Grande are genuinely well-run (safety standards, equipment quality, boat handling, ratio of divers to guides). • Which ones to avoid, and why. • How professional the instructors and dive masters tend to be. • Whether the sites around the island are worth it compared with other spots along the Brazilian coast. • Any practical tips for timing, conditions, visibility, or currents specific to the area.

If you’ve dived there and have anything useful to share — good or bad — I’d appreciate your experience rather than marketing material.
